Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing building maintenance, repair work, and troubleshooting, which may include and not limited to the removal and installation of electrical and data outlets, replacement of ballasts, installation and or repair of doors, locks, blinds, closers, hinges, replacement of floor and ceiling tiles, interior and exterior painting, and the inspection, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems, ovens, grills, and other restaurant equipment as necessary. Also includes inspecting and troubleshooting facility-related issues. Continuously promoting a thorough understanding of safety while following all established safety procedures. To perform required work duties, operate company van for transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs general plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs to the facilities equipment and systems.

  • Maintains inventory of tools and maintenance supplies.

  • Receiving work from shift supervisor or manager and carrying out assigned duties timely and accurately.

  • Responds to breakdown trouble calls and brings equipment and/or machinery back to their accurate running state. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing problems related to electrical and mechanical equipment or process failures.

  • Participate and collaborate with operations personnel to ensure efficient production and minimize downtime.

  • Complete assigned scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) work on restaurant and bakery associated machines.

  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble fans, mixers, ovens, refrigerated display cases, steamers, valves, dish washers, and all other restaurant equipment.

  • Read and understand electrical schematics/ mechanical blueprints.

  • Maintain company documentation as needed.

  • Promotes safety by understanding and aligning with safety procedures and reporting all incidents in a timely manner.

  • Follows Federal, State, City and A.I.B. Health and Safety Standards, including OSHA (State and/or Federal) and Hazardous Material regulation, in keeping with the work process and chemical inventory by location.

  • Acts as a Safety champion, ensuring that team culture embodies a safety-first attitude with policies, procedures, and accountability to protect our team member's safety.

  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation skills, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Thorough knowledge of general mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repair.

  • Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and repair manuals.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Proficient in machining, welding

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English

  • Must possess basic computational ability

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, holidays, and weekends

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application

  • Experience in a restaurant and/or commissary environment

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.

  • Possess and maintain a safe driving record free from felony or misdemeanor offenses and major or repetitive accidents/infractions; ability to successfully pass a post-offer driving record background check.

  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in restaurant and/or commissary maintenance

  • Technical or vocational training from an accredidted institution

  • English/Spanish bilingual

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is standing a majority of the shift. The team member frequently reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries and pushes. The team member frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls in repetitive motions. The team member is frequently required to walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The team member frequently carries equipment up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and carries equipment and cases weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance from co-workers. The team member must frequently communicate with coworkers and supervision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May require use of equipment in machine shop, small portable equipment, and manual tools. Duties may require occasional operation of a motor vehicle or travel to another state on behalf of the company. The team member is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, and frequent washing of hands. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
