ROLE SUMMARY

The Maintenance Tech I is responsible for performing routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, change over's, adjustments, and repairs of production and process equipment, for the facility and/or utility equipment. This position must adhere to all SOPs, cGMPs, and plant quality, safety, and documentation systems requirements. Other related duties essential to these operations or special assignments as required.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Read and interpret detailed blueprints and schematics

Operate small hand and power tools in a safe manner.

Follow oral and written instructions.

Work effectively with various levels of employees.

Learn department and company policies and procedures

Work independently with minimal supervision as required.

Ability to understand changeover, adjust, PM, and repair manufacturing equipment.

A working knowledge of basic mechanics, drive systems, and lubrication principles

Ability to work safely with electrical and electronic principles.

Ability to use a voltmeter to test for power presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the general trades: i.e., construction, electrical, machine shop. Knowledge of basic mathematics.

  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Must know general shop safety practices including handling and storage of potentially dangerous equipment.

Ensuring adherence to all plant safety rules in area of responsibility.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Stand up to 8-12 hours per shift, sit for up to 2-4 hours per shift, twist at waist 10 times per hour, regularly lift up to 20 pounds per activity 5 times per shift, occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds per activity 1 time per shift, walk, climb stairs, climb ladders/walk on catwalks

Use computer terminal 1 hour per shift, respond to visual warning indicators, respond to audible warning indicators, respond to color or special visual indicators, work around moving equipment, work with chemicals, work in hearing conservation area, work on knees occasionally

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

May require OT and work on non-scheduled days given production.

This person develops maintenance, PM, and calibration procedures. The incumbent performs as a leader and technical resource for a group of level I, II or III technicians. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES * Trouble shoots, diagnoses and repairs machine breakdowns in a prompt, skillful manner in order to minimize machine downtime. * Provide useful recommendations regarding improved machine performance through evaluation of manufacturing equipment for sensor and control applications. * Designs and installs electrical sensors or control systems to enhance performance. * Instructs other technicians in the intricacies of assigned machinery and equipment; as well as, the machine/process operators in a proper operation of machinery. * Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of production and/or facility equipment without supervision. * Analyze equipment/line problems and implement resolutions. * Writes and implements ECR modifications and cSCR/ECR changes. QUALIFICATIONS * High School/GED with no less than 4 years manufacturing plant maintenance/shop experience. * AS/AA degree (or equivalent) in a technical field may also be considered in lieu of experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory; principles of HVAC and refrigeration; methods of measurement (tool metrology) as pertains to calibration of process and facilities equipment; electrical power distribution equipment, including transformers, load centers, breakers, bus ducts, motor control centers (MCC) and lighting distribution ; and mechanical components including vari-speed drives, gearboxes, gears, bearing chains, couplings, pumps and mechanical seals. * Knowledge of general trades: i.e. construction, electrical, machine shop. * Ability to read, write, and develop preventative maintenance, calibration procedures, log book entries, work orders and to perform IGS and OGS. * Excellent communication skills using English language.
