An exciting opportunity in Middletown, Virginia as a Maintenance Supervisor leading a team to work on products that make a difference!
What will you do?

Directly supervises the activities of the Facilities Maintenance department consisting of 13 hourly technicians of various trades (electrical, automation controls, HVAC/R, machinist, fabrication, pipe and mechanical) in the maintenance of automated filling, packaging equipment and all building infrastructure to approved standards and specifications.
Schedule and assign all planned work and PM's to be completed by technicians on planned production line outages.
Schedule, assign and verify completion of all non-emergency work by technicians as prioritized by Value Stream Managers on a weekly basis.
Support technician function with technical expertise, empathy and clear direction in following established policies and procedures.
Actively curtail and monitor technician overtime on a monthly basis with a goal of 10% as achievable.
Ensure maintenance technicians are performing their tasks with safety and hazard identification foremost in their thoughts.
Assists in the recruitment and selection of Facilities department members.
Manages vacations and work hours and actively supports technician's training and professional development.
Counsels technicians in accordance with company policies with issues relating to conduct and performance issues. Assists with recommendation and implementation of disciplinary actions.
Establishes and implements performance standards for technicians and performs ongoing evaluation for each department member.
Review performance of personnel as required and documents required performance enhancement plan as needed or any other disciplinary actions that may be required
Support practical process improvement initiatives
Ensure maintenance areas comply with the Middletown facility 5S goals
Analyze procedures and maintenance methods to improve quality, efficiency, costs and productivity in keeping with good manufacturing practices, Federal safety and quality regulations and Company policies.
Actively supports continuous improvement efforts in the facilities department.
Identifies departmental barriers and leads functional teams to implement improvements having a corporate impact. Participates on, and may lead, cross-functional teams.
Implement and sustain cost reduction programs with respect to quality, waste and other inefficiencies.
Facilitate and lead equipment and facility upgrade and improvement projects for continued operation of the Middletown facility.
Supervise a contracted crew of janitorial, facilities and grounds maintenance personnel. Works with others for office moves, general infrastructure repairs/enhancements, facility HR events and completes assigned monthly PM's. Administers contractor safety training, supervises contractor employees and vendors as required and assures contractor/vendor personnel are working safely.
Leads and completes facility risk assessments for required work.
Maintains passenger elevator compliance certificates w/Frederick county, FM Global tank, steam boiler and freeze dryer inspections and certificates, etc.
Executes maintenance schedule and use of resources to support value stream groups
Maintains the Facilities department's goals and measures of success, actively tracking progress toward attainment of same and initiating corrective actions when required.
Provides the necessary level of training and safety inspections to assure a safe work environment.
Serve as a maintenance technical resource for identified maintenance processes. Continually review process and results, anticipate problems, and trouble-shoot processes and equipment with the assistance of other support groups.
May assist in performing minor maintenance on equipment and equipment troubleshooting processes
Ensure that all FDA guidelines are followed and that proper records exist and are properly maintained.
Understand validations of processes and machinery following FDA guidelines. Be able to assist in performing validations or review of validation procedures.
Responsible for maintaining financial budgets for areas of responsibility. Provides recommendations to develop both capital and expense budgets.
Supports the Affirmative Action program (AAP) goals of the company in all personnel interactions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
How will you get here?
5 years facility/equipment experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Ability to lead by example and direct the day to day operations of the facility maintenance department
Demonstrated skills in developing subordinates to their best potential. Team building, coaching and mentoring skills. Conflict resolution.
Proven ability to motivate and influence others.
Troubleshooting and formal problem solving skills required
Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all organizational levels. Must include written and verbal skills.
Demonstrated skills in implementing and using formal continuous process improvement techniques.
Ability to react appropriately to changing priorities and impending deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks.
Must have proven analytical skills
Some knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO Regulations associate with diagnostics manufacturing is preferred
Knowledge of handling hazardous materials preferred
OSHA safety compliance required
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
Ability to use a CMMS system such as Blue Mountain
Will work in manufacturing environment and position may require frequent communication and walking to other areas in which designated PPE will be required. Position will require sitting and standing. And the ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Basic knowledge of Practical Process Improvement preferred
