Title: Plant Maintenance Team Lead

Position Type: Contract

Location: Mankato, MN

Reports to: Operations Manager

Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for a Plant Maintenance Team Lead at a 720 MW combined cycle facility in Mankato, MN. The Plant is a 720-megawatt natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility in Mankato, Minnesota. The Plant Maintenance Team Lead (also known as the Maintenance Manager) is tasked with leading, organizing, and overseeing plant maintenance operations to ensure plant reliability, safety, and environmental compliance. The Plant Maintenance Team Lead role includes training plant personnel, preparing budgets, developing operational procedures, and tracking plant performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the O&M Manager by overseeing critical programs like performance management, outage management, project management

  • Maintain logs, records, and data sheets, and review operational reports and administrative documents.

  • Manage site compliance with permits and NERC standards, including GADs reporting.

  • Adhere to and enforce safety and environmental policies, procedures, and rules while promoting company values of Accountability, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Excellence.

  • Coordinate and lead plant O&M Tech personnel to ensure generating requirements and plant efficiency are met while adhering to environmental standards.

  • Maintain logs, records, and data sheets, and review operational reports and administrative documents.

  • Recruit and develop employees, manage performance, and drive engagement through training and coaching.

  • Coordinate and lead plant O&M Tech personnel to ensure generating requirements and plant efficiency are met while adhering to environmental standards.

  • Provide management direction in the absence of the O&M Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct various programs and tasks in operations and maintenance.

  • Skills to lead, coach, and guide employees while fostering positive employee relations.

  • Excellent writing, presentation, and persuasive verbal skills to promote business initiatives.

  • Uphold high standards of conduct and integrity.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and adaptability to change.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of competitive business practices and decision-making processes.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs.

  • Working knowledge of Maximo preferred.

  • Ability to follow instructions, make sound decisions, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.

  • Occasionally work at heights, climb ladders, stairways, and platforms.

  • Visual abilities for focusing, seeing short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

  • Required to wear PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

  • Adequate hearing to detect plant alarms, equipment conditions, and oral instructions.

  • Visual and olfactory senses to determine plant operating conditions and avoid hazards.

  • Availability for extended hours, varied shifts, weekend, and holiday work as needed.

  • Work On-call as required.

  • Define the work environment: temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or 7+ years of experience in power generation

  • Valid U.S. Driver's license with acceptable MVR history.
