How you'll make a difference:

We seek a highly organized, enthusiastic and results-oriented individual with strong coaching and communication skills to lead a small team of Maintenance Associates. You must be someone who can lead by setting a positive example, who gives guidance and constructive feedback to the team, who takes initiative and is a positive and proactive problem-solver, and has the ability to operate both independently and collaboratively. You must effectively balance your time and attention between your own work and giving guidance to the team. You will have a direct impact on our operational excellence by driving high standards for cleaning and facility maintenance management and you must also understand what it takes to operate a well-tuned facility. You will work closely with internal team members throughout the facility at Custom Ink Charlottesville.

What you'll do:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain printers, dryers, heat presses and more

  • Routine equipment checkups, maintenance, and troubleshooting problems as they arise

  • Must have the ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed

  • Tracking parts, maintenance, and problems using the maintenance management system (MMS)

  • While training will be provided on CustomInk systems and relevant programs, you must have a desire to learn new skills and have the ability to get up-to-speed quickly

Additionally, as the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for making your team as effective as possible by monitoring and optimizing your team's workflow, accuracy, and efficiency, as well as their morale. To be effective, you must understand individual needs and have the professional skills, judgment, and confidence to help improve overall performance and proactively solve problems. You must also be able to motivate members of your team and reinforce their commitment to CustomInk's values by creating a positive and productive atmosphere and, most importantly, leading by example model desired behavior by exhibiting our company Core Values, and setting a friendly and helpful tone through your own actions.

Also, you must have previously demonstrated a mastery of relevant equipment maintenance processes, the ability to effectively motivate yourself and work independently, and possess the aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing equipment in a production environment. Your initial success will be determined by your ownership, commitment, and ability to grasp new concepts and apply them on a daily basis, as well as overall customer satisfaction and team satisfaction through your work.

How you'll be measured:

This role is critical to the continuing success of CustomInk's production operations. To be successful in this role, you must be a versatile, flexible leader who is comfortable with the idea that change may come frequently as we work to improve/optimize our maintenance processes and scale our capacity. Accordingly, key measures of success for this position will be:

  • Uninterrupted operation of the business within the production facility

  • Ability to plan PMs and troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and effectively

We will likely establish targets and quantitative metrics for the above that will evolve with our processes over time.

What we're looking for:

To succeed as the Maintenance Supervisor, you must be an effective communicator, and work efficiently and independently. This role involves problem-solving and team satisfaction in order to provide internal teams with the best possible experience. Accordingly, qualified candidates will be strong in the following areas:

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience, proven ability, and aptitude for helping others succeed

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals

  • Proven mechanical repair knowledge and experience

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, relocate and install equipment

  • Ability and means to travel

  • Forklift and scissor lift qualified

  • General electrical experience

  • Practical working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Google docs experience a plus

  • Knowledge of OSHA compliance standards including Hazardous Communication & lockout/tagout

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

Examples of Duties * Cleans, repairs, and maintains roads, bridges, medians, right of ways, alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and other public areas within the Town. * Performs routine and repetitive physical strenuous tasks such as hand working asphalt and concrete as it is placed; loading and unloading trucks; laying pipelines and repairing manholes; patching pot holes and overlaying of streets; sealing cracks in asphalt and concrete; removing and replacing concrete to include form setting to finishing; reading grades and setting grade stakes; assisting in surveying; cutting brush and trees; mowing and weed-eating high grass and weeds; and maintaining clean street intersections, medians, and alleys. * Operates, repairs, and maintains vehicles and various light equipment and tools such as tractors, mowers, front end and back end loaders, heavy trenchers, bucket trucks, augers, maintainers, jackhammers, skill saws; drills; bolt cutters; pothole patchers; rollers; dump trucks; 1 ton to 5 ton vehicles; etc. Primary responsibility of operation, repair, and maintenance of light equipment in the absence of an Equipment Operator. * Works safely when working in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic areas, along medians, and right-of-ways. * Identifies and informs supervisor of potential hazards, liability exposures, problem areas, inquiries of the general public, and the status of work activities. * Conducts daily inspections and preventative maintenance measures of vehicles, equipment, and tools such as washing, checking safe and proper operation, and servicing. * Assists other departments and performs other duties as needed. * Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety rules and regulations. * Adheres to stand-by schedule as assigned for emergency repairs at night and on weekends. * Trains other employees in operation, repair, and safety techniques of standard construction equipment and in daily job duties and responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. * Must be able to complete and pass the written test for a valid Texas CDL "A" Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within 90 days of hire. You must provide proof of your scheduled driving test appointment with the Texas Department of Public Safety to your supervisor within 90 days from the day you pass the written test. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy. WORK EXPERIENCE: * Street maintenance (concrete and asphalt) repair or construction work experience is required. * Light to heavy construction equipment operation experience is required. Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history). Desired Qualifications KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: * Must have knowledge of installation of concrete and asphalt materials used in street maintenance; and skills required to operate heavy to light construction equipment, vehicles, small power tools, and equipment in a safe and proper manner. * Must be able to exercise good judgment, make competent decisions, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure and stress. * Must work extensive hours and respond within 30 minutes to an on-call or emergency callback as required. * Must maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
