The Maintenance Supervisor will provide direct supervision of the Maintenance team assigned to our flagship building. They will act as point of contact for any issues regarding the building as it relates to the Facilities department and ensure a safe, clean and comfortable environment for our patients and staff.
Directly supervise the Maintenance staff including coordinating job tasks/work schedules, time off requests, hiring, firing, disciplinary issues and dispute resolution
Provides supervision of day and night couriers, and in addition, also supervises vendors for janitorial, security, parking lot management, snow removal, waste, HVAC, etc.
Trains and assists Maintenance staff on minor repairs, preventative maintenance, daily maintenance and operation of the computer.
Oversees work performed by contracted outside vendors for any repairs: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and landscaping.
Performs daily, weekly and monthly inspections of the building ensure the highest level of service is being provided by the Maintenance team
Conducts Fire Drills and maintains all records and paperwork related to FDNY regulations, Dept. of Health standards, OSHA requirements and other administrative records as required.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of two years experience in a supervisory role dealing with union staff
Must possess or be able to obtain within the first three months of employment an F-07 and S-95 Certificate of Fitness from the FDNY.
Have the ability to be on call 24/7 and respond to building issues/emergencies outside of assigned work schedule.
Knowledge of cleaning standards, methods and materials.
Must be familiar with various tools and be mechanically inclined.
Must be able to operate a computer utilizing various programs.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
Have the ability to work independently delivering timely results showing good problem-solving skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
Some college preferred
Technical school or hands on training preferred
Minimum of five years experience in maintenance/facilities; preferably in a healthcare environment.
Knowledge of plumbing, electric and HVAC systems; Knowledge of General Construction helpful.
