Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent Facility Management.

The Maintenance Superintendent will oversee all maintenance and repairs at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Pennington Biomedical is located on 222 acres in Baton Rouge and has 14 buildings which includes 6 research centers, 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Additionally, Pennington Biomedical has a residential lodge, animal labs, inpatient clinic, pediatric clinic, and imaging center.

It is the responsibility of the maintenance team to ensure all buildings, laboratories, clinics, and residential housing units are properly functioning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On-call is required and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.

Supervision Exercised: Supervision of Maintenance Foreman who oversees a wide variety of facility maintenance and repair operations.

Major Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates a large multi-craft maintenance shop. Supervises foremen whose crew conducts maintenance and repairs of a multi-craft nature on job site locations.
  
  Supervises the repair, maintenance, and renovations and energy management systems in all buildings. Inspects work for completeness and quality.

• Maintains close and open communication with higher level personnel on problems, short and long term requirements, priority changes, and provides input for long range departmental plans and systems requirements within all buildings.

• Prepares estimates of general repairs.

• Schedules shut downs and major repairs on central plant for all utilities on campus. Coordinates various job requirements with other departments to ensure timely job completion. Inspects work for completeness and quality.

• Performs administrative duties such as reviewing time, requests for leave, and disciplinary requirements.

Required Qualifications

Four years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance or repair of roads or bridges.

Note: Custodial building maintenance is not qualifying.
