Job Summary:

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the overall appearance of the assigned client location for the AM shift. All duties will be performed based on professional training and experience, with minimal supervision. The Part Time Maintenance Specialist may be subject to work additional hours based on need.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts thorough cleaning of assigned client location and facilities, to include cleaning and maintaining buildings, furnishings, grounds and other onsite property.

  • Gathers and empty trash from all waste receptacles, offices and general assigned areas daily.

  • Ensures all equipment and supplies are accounted for at all times.

  • Responds to all assigned work orders in a timely manner.

  • Requests cleaning supplies and equipment as needed from supervisor or designee.

  • Follows fire safety procedures and regulations as applicable

  • Maintains assigned client location in a safe, functional and clean manner.

Other Functions:

  • Removes debris and other trash inside as well as outside assigned areas

  • Removes debris from entrances and exits to all buildings to ensure safe environment.

  • Uses type of chemicals and equipment necessary for specific cleaning meetings.

  • Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals and toilets; wash windows, mirrors and walls; clean and sanitize showers as assigned; replenish supplies in the restrooms.

  • Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.

  • Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment; clean desks and counter tops.

  • Empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles; pick up papers and other debris.

  • Help move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for conferences and meetings

  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

One year related experience and/or training in Maintenance Specialistial service industry. Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures; knowledge of the materials, supplies and equipment utilized in cleaning activities. Any educational or experiential qualifications to be considered as equivalent, in lieu of the above minimums.

Physical Demands:

Bending, stooping and lifting 50 lbs required to complete daily tasks. Most activities include repetitive motions and can include overhead reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Must embrace cultural diversity awareness and have the ability to work with a diverse population.

Work Environment:

Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from moderate to intense. Predominantly outdoors, occasional indoor monitoring or activities. This is a fast-paced environment with various sharp objects, hazardous materials and machines present and extreme temperatures. Involves walking and standing for extended periods.

VIEW JOBS 1/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-17T00:00 General Description Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Park Superintendent, this position is responsible for assisting in park operations, maintenance and repair of the water treatment plant for Colorado Bend State Park. Performs water laboratory testing procedures and general maintenance and cleaning of water facilities. Maintains CXT Vault Toilets and portable toilets to ensure sanitary conditions and proper maintenance and waste disposal are performed. Responsible in the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, equipment operations and visitor services. Operates all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and power tools. Acts as the Additional Duty Safety Officer to include monthly safety inspections, safety reviews, safety meetings, and safety reports. Provides quality visitor services by issuing permits, collecting revenue, providing information and registers visitors using an automated registration system. Assists with enforcing park rules and regulations. Performs resource management tasks and interprets the parks natural resources. Assists with/and guides park interpretive programs on an as needed basis. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. NOTE: The posted salary range includes a base rate for an unlicensed candidate and a higher salary for a licensed candidate. Higher salary eligibility is contingent upon obtaining required licenses. A salary adjustment can be made after a minimum of 6 months in position. JOB POSTING: 19-00344 Qualification Guidelines MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Graduation from High School or GED. Experience: * Three years facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience. Licensure: * If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license; * Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ); * Must possess or be able to obtain, within two years of employment, a class "C" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). NOTE: Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining license compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Experience: * Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: * Experience working with the public; * Experience in customer service and public relations; * Search and Rescue Training (ground, cave, swift water). Licensure: * National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Fire Fighter Type II (FFTII) certification; * First Aid/CPR Certification;.
