Maintenance Specialist I - Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor V, this position performs a complex of building maintenance work in one or more of the maintenance and building trades as follows: painting, masonry, welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical or motorized equipment. This position works an eight (8) hour shift, normally Monday through Friday, 0700-1600. This position is required to make emergency repairs after-hours when called upon.
This position is required to drive a state owned vehicle. Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
1.Performs skilled and semi-skilled plumbing, maintenance, repair and renovation of the facilities, equipment and grounds in order to maintain them for the patients and staff.
2.Performs related maintenance and construction work on special projects to provide assistance to fellow employees in various maintenance trades.
3.Performs scheduled maintenance and demand maintenance work orders to keep buildings and equipment in good condition.
4.Assists in after-hours emergencies when required in order to maintain the safety for patients and staff.
5.Attends and participates in all mandatory training in order to meet the requirements of maintaining job competence.
6.Maintains an inventory of state issued tools, equipment and supplies and keeps them in a neat, clean, and safe manner to extend or eliminate the need for replacement due to abuse or neglect.
7.Keeps supervisor informed of progress of assigned jobs or projects and communicates them effectively, both verbally and in writing to allow the supervisor to schedule tasks more effectively.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Must possess valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
