Maintenance Specialist I - Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor V, this position performs a complex of building maintenance work in one or more of the maintenance and building trades as follows: painting, masonry, welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical or motorized equipment. This position works an eight (8) hour shift, normally Monday through Friday, 0700-1600. This position is required to make emergency repairs after-hours when called upon.

This position is required to drive a state owned vehicle. Essential Job Functions:

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

1.Performs skilled and semi-skilled plumbing, maintenance, repair and renovation of the facilities, equipment and grounds in order to maintain them for the patients and staff.

2.Performs related maintenance and construction work on special projects to provide assistance to fellow employees in various maintenance trades.

3.Performs scheduled maintenance and demand maintenance work orders to keep buildings and equipment in good condition.

4.Assists in after-hours emergencies when required in order to maintain the safety for patients and staff.

5.Attends and participates in all mandatory training in order to meet the requirements of maintaining job competence.

6.Maintains an inventory of state issued tools, equipment and supplies and keeps them in a neat, clean, and safe manner to extend or eliminate the need for replacement due to abuse or neglect.

7.Keeps supervisor informed of progress of assigned jobs or projects and communicates them effectively, both verbally and in writing to allow the supervisor to schedule tasks more effectively.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities:


Need to have general knowledge or skills in maintenance, repair, construction, renovation or restoration projects of the facilities buildings and grounds. Need to have some knowledge in metal or wood framing, installing or repairing sheetrock, ceiling grid or tile installation and repairs, carpet, ceramic or VCT floor tile installation or replacing, painting, electrical, welding or fabricating, operating a variety of hand tools and a complex of equipment i.e. backhoe, front loader, tractor, forklift, etc. Registration or Licensure

Requirements:

Must possess valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.

Salary Note: The salary offered will follow HHS starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the posted minimum of the salary range.

This position performs advanced professional and complex technical work in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a Local Area Network (LAN) and/or Wide Area Network (WAN). Responsible for network installation, testing, maintenance, and enhancement. Responsible for acting as liaison between network users, staff, management, and vendors. Responsibilities may include leading or performing application support tasks as assigned by the Group Manager. Responsibilities may include project management skills to lead or participate in projects. Essential Job Functions: (40%) Serve as front line support for local and remote personnel to obtain support for problems involving PC workstation hardware, software, and connectivity to network or telecommunications systems. Working closely with other with team members, perform PC desktop support, troubleshoot and repair hardware and software, making appropriate documentation within the assigned Help Desk system, and other technical issues in a timely manner and according to Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards. Serve as technical resource for other IT staff, and assist in coordinating tasks. (20%) Install, monitor, and maintain hardware providing Local Area network (LAN) services. Assist in support of Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment and services. Hardware support includes cable, hub/switch installations, limited router support, and related physical and logical structures. Monitor performance of, and act as liaison to, the Data Center Services (DCS) vendor to ensure service levels for network server hardware and operating systems, as well as backup and recovery services. Perform limited server duties, such as the addition of new users to the network and establishment of rights and privileges, and other functions as indicated as agency responsibilities not covered in the DCS scope.
