The Parking Maintenance Specialist I performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment, parking lots, garages and transit facilities. All work is to be performed with an emphasis on sound maintenance practices and a development of skills while adhering to all safety procedures set-fourth by the University, the department and regulatory agencies (OSHA). The employee in this position demonstrates the ability to identify and understand basic structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. 2 Positions Available

Required qualifications:

  • High School diploma or a minimum of one year of maintenance and/or service experience

  • Valid State of Tennessee Driver's License

  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, and be able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.

Job Skills:
General working knowledge of mechanical equipment and tools. Painting, Basic computer skills (e.g., email and data input). Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Excellent customer service skills.

Must be available evenings and weekends due to extensive maintenance and special events schedule for the University.

Preferred qualifications:

Previous parking facilities maintenance and painting, but not required

Also, this position includes repair work on clogged sewer lines, sanitary plumbing equipment and any other plumbing problems. Required Qualifications: Vocational or technical training required; High school education is preferred This position requires a good working knowledge of plumbing work with a minimum of three (3) years in, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and/or experience. Valid TN Driver's License Applicant should have an understanding of plumbing distribution systems and equipment, controls, piping, skills in use of all equipment and tools relating to plumbing areas of work. Requires the ability to perform under extreme pressure in both a public contact and internal departmental capacity. Ability to perform duties in a highly technical and sometimes hazardous and hectic environment.
