Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician Specialist who will be tasked with working closely with facility operations and engineering teams to address equipment-related action items through repair and maintenance. As part of your role, you'll be proactive and prioritize problems before they turn into breakdowns. You will report to the Maintenance & Tooling Supervisor. You'll be at the forefront demonstrating BRP values and maintaining the facility with a great team!

The BRP Marine Propulsion Systems facility in Spruce Pine, North Carolina is a full-service lost foam plant which uses innovative processes to create aluminum castings from polystyrene beads.

HOURS: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 5am-5pm

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams to address equipment-related action items through repair and maintenance

  • Take point on all electrical / electronic issues requiring knowledge and use of PLC, touchscreens, robotics, CNC programing and troubleshooting, motor control and drives, electrical panel building, and schematic drawings

  • Work with operations and engineering on design, installation, and power distribution issues for equipment and processes

  • Install and maintain medium and high voltage distribution systems, A.C. and D.C. Motor Controls, and microprocessor and relay-based machine controls

  • Install and maintain industrial LAN and SCADA systems

  • Monitor and maintain 5-S

  • Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments ensuring accurate documentation

  • Be proactive with potential problems before they turn into breakdowns

  • Use time effectively to complete as much work as possible within the shift

  • Log in work orders into Guide system on a daily basis

  • Efficiently follow lock-out/tag-out procedure

  • Promote and model safe behavior and BRP values throughout the facility

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Required:

Education

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Controls etc., or equivalent knowledge and proficiency within a related field. (HS Diploma if no degree)

  • 7+ years maintenance or related experience, or 5+ years combination of education and experience

Professional Skills

  • Advanced electrical & electronic troubleshooting skills with knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, ABB etc.)

  • Knowledge of industrial touchscreen, HMI, industrial SCADA systems, and industrial LAN systems

  • Hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of CNC programing and equipment

  • Knowledge of industrial robotics programing and equipment

  • Proficient knowledge of frequency drives

  • Ability to design and write ladder logic

  • Ability to design and build electrical circuits

  • Proficient knowledge of industrial electronic heat control systems (thermocouples, modulation motor controls, dampers, valves, temperature controllers, etc.)

  • Proficient knowledge of installation and troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls and starters

  • Database entry competency

  • The ability to work independently and with little guidance

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule

  • Timeliness

  • Positive attitude

Preferred:

  • NC Electrical License
