DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs various tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. Duties include repairing doors, doorframes, and furniture; installing electric circuits, wall outlets, and lighting fixtures; repairing and installing plumbing fixtures, sinks, fountains, and related equipment; and repairing steam heating and cooking equipment such as stoves, ovens, slicers, and kettles. Other duties include repairing roofing, flashing, and spouting; performing masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walkways, and walls; and maintaining equipment and tools to ensure good working condition.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

• Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Wednesday to Sunday, with 30-minute lunch.

• Evenings as needed

• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or

• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

• This position will require possession of a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in commercial carpentry

• Experience in the plumbing trade

• Experience working in the electrical trade field

• Experience working in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems

• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment

• Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels

• Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and instantaneous water heaters

• Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings

• Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings

• Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings at a long-term care facility

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
