DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In the role of Maintenance Repairman 2 for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, your primary responsibility involves maintaining the facilities and surrounding areas of the Wellsboro Readiness Center. Your position encompasses a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the upkeep of the premises.

Your responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance, as well as engaging in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Additionally, you will be tasked with grounds keeping and custodial duties to maintain a clean and functional environment. Overall, your work will contribute significantly to the operational efficiency and safety of the Wellsboro Readiness Center, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and conducive to their intended purposes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment

• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday

• Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or

• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade.

• Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC trades.

• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment.

• Experience working with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels.

• Experience working with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters.

• Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings.

• Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings.
