ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Facilities Services is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable campus environment for students, faculty, staff and guests.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintenance & Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work related to the general maintenance and repair of buildings, recreational facilities, equipment, and other university property. Workers assigned to this classification perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks independently, and assist skilled craft workers on assignments. Job assignments involve the use of tools, equipment, and procedures that can be readily learned through on the job training. This job is distinguished from the higher level Maintenance Mechanic position which requires both training and experience as a skilled craft worker. Shift hours: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM (may require occasional non-shift days/hours and holidays)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be proficient in reading, writing and communicating in English.

Must have the ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists skilled craft workers by performing tasks such as preparation of job site, transporting tools and equipment and assisting with needed repairs.

Perform semi-skilled routine and preventative repair and maintenance tasks to include; repairing small scale plumbing, repairing/replacing electrical fixtures, replacing light bulbs, changing AC filters, etc.

Inspects buildings, systems and equipment for safety hazards and identifies maintenance repairs that may be required.

Operates pressure washers and cleaning equipment to clean sidewalks, buildings and equipment.

Assists in routine maintenance required on golf carts, utility vehicles and equipment.

Responsible for possessing an operational two-way radio during entire work shift. Monitor all Maintenance Services communications and respond as required to communications addressed to them. Perform all other maintenance duties as assigned by a Supervisor that are required to meet the needs of the university campus community.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a ninth grade education and six months of appropriate work experience. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.

PREFERRED:

High school diploma or GED and six months of appropriate work experience.
