This position is located at the Joint Force Headquarters, Oklahoma City, OK 73111

Basic Purpose:

Position is assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, controls, fixtures and related equipment in facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Services, maintains and repairs HVAC systems that control temperature, humidity, air-flow and air-filtering in all types of commercial and light-commercial buildings.

  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and implementing preventive maintenance programs.

  • Performs scheduled and routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems for the purpose of ensuring life-cycle operation of these systems.

  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, equipment and refrigerant logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.

  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.

  • Inform supervisor regarding status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making purchasing and scheduling decisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the operation of a variety of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems; of the methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment utilized in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance; and of standard safety precautions in the trade. Ability is required to maintain and repair various types of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Ability to install various types of heating and air conditioning components and in providing guidance and training to assigned work crews.

Education and Experience:

Current Mechanical Journeyman license issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board

Licenses/Certificates required: Mechanical Journeyman

Physical Requirements:

  • Applicant must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds

  • Applicant must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (over 95 degrees F and below 20 degrees F).

  • Applicant must be able climb ladders and stairs.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Unclassified service as an employee at will

  • Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check

  • Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening

  • Considered essential personnel (work during inclement weather)

  • Available to work if called in due to an emergency

  • Non-exempt FLSA status

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license

  • Tobacco and Vape free facility

  • Mechanical Journeyman license and EAP certification or the ability to obtain these licenses within the first 12 months of employment

  • Travel throughout the state is required with overnight stays

  • T1 security clearance (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted to persons who are U.S. citizens)

Benefits:

This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee. The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance cost. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

Employment eligibility verified through e-Verify (Homeland Security), and a National Agency Check for positions that require computer access.

This position may require travel in and out of state with overnight stays. Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.

Reports to the Facility Supervisor and/or Facility Manager of company Repair Station. Aircraft Technician Class B is responsible for performing fuel tank maintenance. This includes preventive maintenance and alteration tasks as directed and assigned in accordance with the applicable maintenance data. The qualifications for this position are basic knowledge, experience and/or training required to perform themi assigned task. This position will not be assigned management, supervisory or inspection duties and does not have authorization to sign a maintenance release for approving, maintained or altered article for return to service. Therefore, this position is not required to be certified under 14 CFR - part 65 or be listed on the Management, Supervisor, or Inspector roster. Responsibilities Carry out the assigned tasks, in accordance with the applicable maintenance manual. Maintenance performed which have been completed or partially completed have been signed off. Ensure maintenance operations are performed in the appropriate sequence that inspections are requested in an orderly and timely manner and that maintenance activities are performed according to the appropriate maintenance data and customer requirements. Ensure test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled and current. Request stock as required for the work being performed. Properly record the work performed on the appropriate maintenance record and complete the additional paperwork as required. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner. Remain cognizant of applicable FAR part 14S and 43Familiar with the content of the company Repair Station Manual, Quality Control Manual and subsequent revisions. Responsible for recording time of tasks assigned. Immediately communicating to supervision any procedures, practices or habits, if not corrected might lead to injury, inefficiency or un-airworthy conditions.The work demands flexible schedule and the ability to fit into small areas and work in confined spaces.
