We have an immediate opening for an Maintenance Porter. Who will assist in maintaining clean and orderly conditions in our technician parts and service departments. The Environmental Porter will remove, clean up, or properly dispose of hazardous materials. They identify and dispose of harmful waste in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. They help foster a culture of safety through maintaining a close relationship with management and the safety assistants.

Compensation: The Maintenance Porter has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of between $17.00 and $18.00.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily review of the facility and waste streams to ensure that all waste disposal meets safety and environmental standards.

  • Sort trash and Hazardous waste to properly dispose of containers.

  • Oversee hazardous spills with appropriate equipment and dispose of waste in accordance with state, federal, and company policies.

  • Notify supervisors of managers of major hazardous or environmental issues as they present.

  • Observe and coach team members on the correct handling of hazardous waste.

  • Use and coach others on proper PPE when needed and as required.

  • Clean and stock supply cabinets.

  • Maintain exterior safety features such as eye-wash stations, sinks, and technician floors.

  • Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies and chemicals.

  • Perform other miscellaneous safety and maintenance duties, and partner with contracted services when necessary.

  • Remove debris from trenches, stalls, and other locations.

  • Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Able to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors regarding the requirements for safe hazardous waste management.

  • High school diploma.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Be able to push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, stretch and reach.

  • Extensive standing, walking, and carrying (up to 6 consecutive hours).

  • Extensive outdoors work during daytime and nighttime hours in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.

  • Repeated lifting, leveraging, and carrying of up to 50 pounds for both short and longer distances and over a variety of walking surfaces.

  • Mentally recalls, tracks and accurately recounts work in progress; apply pertinent work information.
