For more information about Celanese Corporation and its product offerings, visit www.celanese.com.ResponsibilitiesPolymer Operator Job DescriptionThis position is located on site at: 5203 DuPont Site Rd., Richmond, VA, 23234The polymer operators are required to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, which includes weekends and holidays.SummaryMonitors and operates equipment and facilities, including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Maintains safety standards at all times and initiates and follows emergency procedures when necessary. Performs basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment. May perform advanced maintenance activities, as qualified.Our site in Richmond, Virginia is seeking individuals to join our team of polymer specialists. Candidates with advanced electrical, instrumentation or millwright experience are encouraged to apply. The site operates three continuous polymerization lines producing nylon-based resin pellets, Zytel & HTN (High Temperature Nylon). Our products are used extensively in the automotive industry along with numerous other applications where the resins can withstand high temperatures and provide a lighter material to replace metals.Richmond Zytel employs high performance work practices and Polymer Specialists will be responsible but not limited to:*
  • Operating the process in one to three of six process areas allowing shift team flexibility * Performing routine maintenance while on shift as well as potentially participating in a maintenance rotation to assist with more complex maintenance and overhauls. * Performing administrative tasks while on shift as well as participating in a day turn rotation to manage the day-to-day functions to run the business. * Safety standards and operating procedures must be maintained, and employees will initiate emergency procedures when necessary.A successful candidate will need to be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.The following qualifications are required for this role:*
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent * Willing and able to work a 12-hr. rotating shift schedule. * Willing and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice, call-in as required. * Willing to train in multiple process areas as well as do maintenance work and perform administrative functions. * Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel-toed boots, hardhat, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)* Willing and able to climb up and down several flights of stairs several times per shift; able to lift 55 lbs.; work inside and outside for extended periods of time.The following additional skill sets are preferred by the site:*
  • Associate degree or higher, or 48+ college credit hours, technical education * Four or more years of industrial/manufacturing experience * Experience as an industrial electrician, millwright, pipe fitter, welder, or machinist. * Demonstrated experience/competency in any of the following: Engineering, Electrical, Instrumentation or Mechanical * Experience/competency in any of the following: Manufacturing Operations, Control Systems, ISO Systems or Basic Science * Experience/competency in any of the following: Computer Applications, Accounting, Planning & Scheduling or Training & DevelopmentPlease note: this position has a multi-step selection and interviewing process, both virtual and in-person.You will need to use a smartphone, or a tablet, or a computer for the Virtual Sessions.If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams app prior to the appointment.At Zytel we are committed to looking for solutions in everything we do.
