Job Description:

Madison College is seeking a Maintenance Planner to join the Maintenance Department. This pivotal role involves analyzing, prioritizing, scheduling, and performing maintenance tasks while assigning work requests, projects, and preventive maintenance to optimize team efficiency.

The Maintenance Planner provides crucial administrative support in short and long-term planning, project planning, and budgeting. Acting as a direct liaison between maintenance personnel and administration, this position operates with significant flexibility and independence within established parameters, utilizing advanced knowledge of computerized maintenance systems and comprehensive facilities maintenance expertise.

Reports directly to the Engineering Manager and functions under set, specific parameters, guidelines, and procedures, consistent with District Policy.

This is a full-time, 52-weeks per year position, general working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with Administrators, Department Heads, Consultants, Engineers and others in project planning, development, and implementation.

  • Provides Administrative support in short- and long-range planning, and in budget planning.

  • Receives and reviews work requests for an initial determination of response and implementation.

  • Prioritizes, schedules, and assigns all work conducted within the Facilities maintenance team and coordinates repair work with contractors.

  • Provides operational guidance and support to the maintenance, operations, and grounds staff.

  • Procures and maintains adequate inventory of maintenance parts, supplies and materials.

  • Operates and maintains the integrity of computerized maintenance management system, building automation & lighting control systems, and fire alarm systems.

  • May perform hands-on maintenance tasks as directed by the manager or designee.

  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.

  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.

  • Working knowledge of complex building systems such as Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Fire Protection Systems. Experience with building envelope, surface, hardware, and equipment repair is desirable. Working knowledge of Solar, Wind, and other renewable energy systems is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management and work order systems.

  • Proficiency at the operator or greater level working with complex building automation systems and intelligent addressable fire alarm systems. Specific experience with Alerton, Johnson Controls/Simplex, and Lutron systems is preferred.

  • Ability to operate networked PC and software applications such as Windows, MS Office, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and others.

  • Demonstrated skill in prioritizing, scheduling, and assigning work to skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled crafts workers, maintenance personnel and laborers.

  • Skill in installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing, heating, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing related construction drawings and documents.

  • Demonstrated skill in procurement procedures such as writing and processing parts and material specifications and requests for proposal, use of life-cycle information in cost analysis and product selection, inventory control and computerized or automated purchasing processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent working experience.

*Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.

  • Five (5) years of work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.
