Position Summary:

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is currently seeking a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Engineer with experience in the maintenance of traffic for large highway projects and understands construction phasing and work sequencing. Candidate will prepare MOT plans, coordinate with engineering and construction staff, and provide technical leadership, oversight and interdisciplinary coordination on complex highway design build projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project team to understand the design limits and constraints

  • Develop MOT design on pursuit and final design projects

  • Review project scope and contracts to assure MOT plans meet project requirements

  • Mentor junior staff with technical and professional development

  • Coordinate with project estimating and scheduling staff to develop and optimize phases

  • Strong focus on innovation and ability to envision, develop and evaluate multiple phasing options

  • Develop Transportation Management Plans

Expertise Required:

  • 8+ years of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) experience for highway projects

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Civil Engineering

  • Design build experience preferred, but not required

  • Professional registration required

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification desirable

  • Extensive knowledge of the MUTCD, Roadside Design Guide and construction traffic control design

  • Experience in developing Maintenance of Traffic Plans for Design-Build projects is desired

  • Experience in development of Traffic Management Plans is desired

  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead

  • Knowledge of design software including MicroStation, Inroads, Signcad AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing

  • Work will primarily be performed in the Englewood, CO office, but must be able to travel to project sites and attend meetings across North America as needed by the project

There is one immediate temporary opportunity within Region 1 Traffic on the Striping Crew located at 18500 East Colfax, Aurora, CO. These positions are not to exceed 9 months. This temporary position in traffic performs the installation, maintenance and removal of pavement markings along the State highway and roadway system. Work assignments are frequently performed under hazardous, high volume traffic situations including bad weather conditions at times. These positions may require some out of town travel and may include working some weekend hours and holidays as needed. As a public servant you will be subject to call 24 x 7. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * This position exists to perform the installation, maintenance and removal of pavement markings along the State highway and roadway system. The following are a list of some of the duties performed on the job. * Restrips state roads in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices to promote a safer environment for motorists traveling within Region 1; * Performs various tasks with minimal supervision and be able to work independently with several pieces of equipment during the process of striping; * Capable of lifting loads into a 2 1/2 ton Stake Bed Truck with tools and materials to complete daily projects; * Applies various types of paint by machine and hand applicators; Applies crosswalks, stop bars, lane control arrows, symbols and legends to the roadway surface. Removes undesirable markings with hand operated gas powered grinders; * Assists scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance to avoid equipment and vehicle failures. Changes engine oil, filters, grease etc, change grinder blades, oil parts needed for equipment. Cleans, adjusts and makes minor repairs on equipment (trucks, grinders, striping machines); * Responds to emergencies by following prescribed procedures such as stopping or slowing traffic; * Sets out signs and cones for "traffic control safe zones" around work areas to divert traffic; * Capable of understanding and posting work orders on the computer attributed to striping operations; * Other duties as assigned. Work Environment * Exposure to loud noise; Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, dusts, etc that may affect breathing, eyes and skin; * Night and shift work required for some positions; * Frequently responds to emergencies outside regular work hours and may work overtime including weekends and holidays; * Must be willing and be physically able to work at varying elevations up to 12,000 ft in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for long periods of time - both hot and cold temperatures.
