Position Overview:

Responsible for keeping the injection molding equipment department running without equipment issues by performing repairs and completing preventative measures. Performs equipment projects including simple design, fabrication, and programming to improve processes. Self-directed and can keep productive throughout the day with limited direction from supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Troubleshoots equipment issues as they arise to determine hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical solutions. Works with equipment suppliers and engineering staff.

  • Develops preventative measures to prevent future and reoccurring issues with equipment.

  • Assists with programming of plant robots and programmable logic controllers.

  • Performs preventative maintenance of machines and equipment as assigned.

  • Performs projects in the shop including equipment overhaul, fabrication, repair, and design improvements. This may involve welding, metalworking, electronics programming or air logic.

  • Supports other ODL manufacturing sites as needed to commission new equipment, perform repairs and/or improve processes.

Candidate Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 5+ years' experience in injection molding maintenance. Experience with the following equipment a plus: Cincinnati Milacron, Haitian, and Sepro/Fanuc/Conair

  • Must have own tools.

Experience/training required/helpful in these areas:

  • Experience with injection molding hydraulic systems

  • Extensive Industrial electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills (AC/DC circuits)

  • Must be capable of reading equipment electrical diagrams, interpreting and troubleshooting circuits, AC voltage circuits from 11OVAC single phase to 575VAC, 3 phase electrical.

  • Current electrician license is a plus.

  • Must be able to identify and replace bad electrical components, such as fuses, relays, contacts, motor overloads, heaters, broken wires, thermostats, RTD's, terminals, SCR's, diodes, potentiometers, switches,

  • Must be able to change lighting bulbs, sockets, ballasts, fixtures.

  • Pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge and troubleshooting.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot and replace air or hydraulic valves, flow controls, circuits, pumps, pressure controls, pressure relief valves, cylinders, actuators.

  • PLC troubleshooting, including ladder logic programming knowledge

  • Must be able to identify and replace bad components, processors, input or output cards, analog output cards (4-20ma, 1-5vdc, etc)

  • Robot programming or troubleshooting knowledge.

  • Motoman/Fanuc experience (MRC, XRC, K30, SK45, UP20,RJII, 710i, 420)

  • Sepro Robotics

  • Must know how to use computer, Is required to close out work orders,

  • Maintenance software (CMMS) knowledge/experience is helpful.

  • Welding/Metal working experience

  • Wire feed welding

  • Stick-welding

  • Silver Solder/Brazing

  • Should know how to use metal cutting torch

  • Should know how to use plasma cutter.

  • Knowledge of metal working equipment

  • Bridgeport Mill

  • Lathe

  • Sander

  • Drill Press

  • Surface grinder

  • Bandsaw

  • Plumbing experience

  • Must be able to cut and install pipe according to plant layout drawings.

  • Black pipe (air lines),

  • PVC (water or drain lines)

  • Copper (water lines) - Must know how to solder or sweat pipe fittings.

  • Equipment and component knowledge that would be helpful

  • Hotmelt Adhesive Drum Unloaders (55 Gallon)

  • Foammelt systems (NordsolfFM151, FM153, FM200)

  • Heated hose and hanguns.

  • Temperature controllers

  • Infrared ovens and SCR controllers .

  • Preventative maintenance experience helpful.

  • Mechanical drive systems

  • Must be able to identify and replace power transmission parts such as sprockets, bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, idlers, gears, gear reducers.
