The Maintenance Mechanic Utility is responsible for maintaining all plant utility systems. The Utility Mechanic will perform daily routine checks, tests and logs for all plant utility systems from ammonia system, boiler, hydraulic, plant air handling systems and plant air systems.

In addition, he/she will also perform facility related work base on work orders submitted through MVP. The Utility Mechanic will perform PM on all plant utility systems and if needed, will contact the appropriate vendor and lead the effort with work perform on the systems. Support operations Maintenance Technicians as needed.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Understand that I am responsible for reporting food safety issues observed so appropriate action can be taken.

1.30% Coordinate all utility and facility related maintenance activities, troubleshoot and repair facility equipment, support Maintenance Technicians with plant operation repairs, ensure parts room and maintenance shop are secure, maintain maintenance shop cleanliness, and ensure plant utilities are operational.
2.30% Completes work orders covering scheduled maintenance of the utility equipment and facility (Electrical and Components). Completes unscheduled repairs of all areas as needed. Provides support to Operators and Maintenance Technicians. Always seeking continues self, the improvement of equipment and the work environment.
3.30% Performs non-routine maintenance activities, including but not limited to basic preventative electrical maintenance on all facility equipment and utility. Maintain schedule compliance inspections and testing of facility and utilities equipment. Completed daily log sheets and inventory usage data entry to database.
4.10% Performs other duties as needed or assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Education Level and Focus:

High School Education or equivalent with some Electrical vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
1-2 years experience with using a PC and CMMS software. Experience with facility repairs and manufacturing facility utility systems.

Interpersonal and Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively

communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to interact and

coordinate with all Maintenance Mechanics as well as with other departments. Must be

motivated and able to work as a team member.

Technical and Analytical:

Ability to analyze issues and provide corrective actions.

Administrative and Operations:

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given. Must be able to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.

Physical Demands:

Standing, stooping, reaching, bending, for long periods of time. Lifting 50+lbs, climbing, pushing, pulling and crawling.

Work Environment:

Food plant, high noise levels, frequent interruptions, cold hot and humid conditions, wet floors, forklift and pedestrian traffic. Fast paced and various shifts and on call status. This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Special Equipment Used:

Various hand tools, machining tools, forklift, and electrical testing equipment.

Must have a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance operations. Must have basic knowledge of PLC's and have ability to troubleshoot PLC Panels. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all production equipment: including but not limited to pumps, pasteurizers, homogenizers, atomizers, evaporators, dryers, valves, baggers, etc. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all support equipment: including but not limited to, boiler, aircompressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, sewer meters, conductivity meters, water meters, etc... Must be able to troubleshoot electrical circuits, change out motors: 480 volt 3 phase, 240 volt 2 phase, 120 volt control power, 4-20 milli AMP controls. Handling of chemicals for support equipment operation. Chemical testing of boiler feed water, condensate, cooling tower water, ice bank chilled water, plant process water. Required to be an active participant and member of the emergency response team. Required to wear the essential protective equipment required for the emergency response duties and/or other assigned duties. Required to complete daily utilities reading. Fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs. Must be able to do sanitary welding on piping and equipment. Finished welding product must be inspected by USDA inspectors and be able to pass inspection. Ensure fabrication and manufacturing of product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, and pneumatic lines, etc. is in accordance with the applicable safety regulations.
