Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Trail Program Manager)

This position is located in Olympic National Park, in the Division of Facility Management.

This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.

The incumbent supervises the park's trails program, including livestock operations, backcountry toilet maintenance operation, backcountry structure maintenance crew and multiple trail crew units that perform trail maintenance throughout the park. The incumbent is fully responsible for the operation, maintenance and construction of trails and trails support facilities, and provides planning, development, coordination and execution of maintenance programs under his/ her control. Operational staff is based out of Port Angeles but performs work throughout the park.

• Performs supervisory duties to include, completing work schedules, approving leave, handling employee relations issues, evaluating, training and coaching subordinates and filling vacant positions.

• Performs work in short and long range daily planning, oversight and approval of purchasing, training and travel for work unit, coordinating work with other departments and contractors.

• Performs carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting work as necessary.

• Performs maintenance, repairs and custodial operations in public use buildings, housing and campgrounds.

• Operates light trucks for hauling supplies, removing debris, etc.

Conditions of employment:

1.You must obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License, Class A, with air brake endorsements within 1 year of employment.

2.You must obtain and maintain a Helicopter Manager certification within 1 year of employment.

3.You must obtain and maintain a current National Park Service or equivalent Blasters Certificate within 1 year of employment.

4.You must obtain and maintain a Chainsaw journeyman level certification within 1 year of employment.

5.You must obtain and maintain a Contracting Officer Representative (COR-1) certificate within 1 year of employment.To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
