JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State's College of Agriculture, Berkey Creamer is search for a Maintenance Mechanic (Dairy Plant) to join their team. Duties include:

• Perform various duties relating to the installation, maintenance, repair, disassembly, and reassembly of dairy processing equipment in the University Creamery including established use of preventive maintenance programs for equipment, pumps, valves, plumbing fixtures, and product fillers

• Perform electronic repairs and interpret electrical schematic blueprints on processing equipment

• Use and install programmable controllers

• Inspect and repair refrigeration and cooling systems and equipment for proper operation

• Replace or repair small non-ammonia refrigeration equipment

• Use hand and power tools, and shop tools in the performance of duties

• Oversee the loan of tools and equipment

• Inform the Creamery Manager of any plant problems

• Purchase needed supplies

• Occasionally direct the work of others

Job Requirements: Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of adjustable measuring instruments and the use of broad training in a recognized trade or craft. Equivalent to a complete accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education. Over 2 years up to and including 3 years effective experience.

Work Schedule: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Days Off: Saturday, Sunday
