Purpose: To provide night shift electrical and mechanical plant maintenance to the facility and all process equipment to ensure continued ethanol production.

Pacific Ethanol is the leading producer and marketer of low-carbon renewable fuels in the Western United States. With the addition of four Midwestern ethanol plants in July 2015, we have expanded our operations and sales footprint, more than doubling our scale, entering new markets, and expanding our mission to become the industry leader in the production and marketing of low carbon renewable fuels.

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition; and, management may modify this job description as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.

  • Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for production, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.

  • Tests equipment to check operation. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.

  • Examines, tests and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks for visual defects.

  • Makes preventive maintenance check and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.

  • Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Company values; promote an environment that appreciates diversity and treats all people with respect, prohibiting discrimination and harassment of any kind.

  • Ensure a safe, healthy work environment by following all safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and regulations per the Company's IIPP, job safe practices and other related programs.

  • Others duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience in related field

  • Some electrical experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Bilingual preferred

  • Detailed oriented and multi-tasking is a must

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to learn data entry

  • Valid Driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Able to walk, stand and move around the plant facility freely.

  • Able to climb stairs and ladders to check equipment and gauges and to work on equipment.

  • Able to use hands to handle, feel objects; use tools, work with controls and gauges; must be able to reach.

  • Able to kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl around equipment to do work.

  • Able to hear equipment and determine problems.

  • Work in hot and cold weather conditions.

  • Sit at a desk for part of the day to write reports.

  • Must have good vision and be able to see clearly in close and distant situations; and distinguish colors.

  • Able to communicate with others by phone and in person, in noisy conditions.

  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds alone.

  • Able to deal with high stress situations.

This position is on the night shift (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) The Maintenance Mechanic Lead is responsible for the safe execution of maintenance work in support of the production lines by performing mechanical duties on industrial equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic Lead also maximizes the utilization of all maintenance resources, including people, time, and materials. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic Lead will need the ability to use, train, and assist others in blue prints, schematics, and other Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P & Id's) to install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic Lead will be expected to communicate maintenance requirements and parts/supplies needed to repair equipment and keep production running efficiently. Training others on the maintenance team is also a responsibility of the Maintenance Mechanic Lead. Requirements: * Completion of one year toward an Associates degree (A.A.) or the equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; a minimum of six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Must pass McCain Foods Maintenance job skills test. * Must be able to perform calculations, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and math operations of addition and subtraction. * Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
