Reports to: Captain / Mate on duty

Job Summary:

The successful Maintenance Mechanic uses their general maintenance experience to perform repairs and maintenance that will ensure the protection of life, property and product. Shipmates must uphold the strictest safety standards for guests and crew, and will maintain a professional and friendly manner consistent with Our Service System (OSS).

Essential Functions:

  • Performing general repair and maintenance work including painting and other miscellaneous tasks

  • Observing, recording and bringing to management's attention all equipment malfunctions

  • Assisting in all phases of business unit functions

  • Conducting complete building inspections and informing appropriate staff of unsafe or hazardous conditions

  • Perform floor care as needed

  • Perform light electrical repairs

  • Perform basic plumbing repairs

  • Removing snow and debris from walkways and adding salt as needed

  • Handling other related functions as necessary

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time

  • Other duties as assigned by the Captain or First Mate on duty

Accountabilities:

The successful Maintenance Mechanic will contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties. Performance will be measured by guest and mystery shopper satisfaction surveys, departmental tests, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the marine operations team.

Job Specifications / qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required

  • One (1) year experience in a trade or general building maintenance role

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools properly and safely

  • Technologically competent able to use computerized systems

  • Pre-employment and on-going random drug testing is required for all marine personnel

  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers

  • Attention to detail and the ability to plan and organize

  • Capability of multi-taking and problem-solving skills

  • May be required to apply for a Transportation Workers ID Card

  • Per US Coast Guard regulations, must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident

Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled. Practice Defensive Driving at all times Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials. Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license (Mobile) Administrative: Update work order status in real time Utilize CMMS systems for all work performed. Perform Vehicle Safety Inspection Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner Attend work and safety meetings as required Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.
