The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general plant maintenance including, but not limited to, covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done. Familiarity with working around high voltage electricity and NEC knowledge is mandatory. Incumbent must have knowledge of electrical components and diagnostic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done. Inspects plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
  
  Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. Advises when immediate shut down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operations will have no harmful effect. Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, lubricates, and adjusts equipment for proper operations.
  
  Performs PMs and processes work orders thru Computerized Maintenance Management System. Operates simple machine tools. Performs rigging as necessary. Interprets drawings and sketches, plans details of working procedures, tools and material requirements, selects materials suitable for job.

• Trained in use of forklift, scissor lift and high reach. Trained in fall protection, use of harness, respirator and confined space entry. Follows work permitting procedures and PPE requirements.

• Sets up and operates pipe bending, threading, welding and cut off equipment and uses various hand tools. Shapes, fabricates and installs steel, stainless steel and plastic pipe as required for transport of gases and liquids.

Requirements for the role:

• Minimum of 3-5 years' maintenance experience, manufacturing experience preferred

• Experience with pump repairs, welding, piping, and rigging required

• Excellent safety record essential

• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
