Maintenance Mechanic IV

Under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, or the Lead Maintenance Mechanic in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, The Maintenance Mechanic IV maintains and repairs all college electrical, plumbing and heating and cooling systems and programs and operates building automaton systems. The Maintenance Mechanic IV is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Receives work assignments, work orders, and instructions from the Maintenance Supervisor or the Lead Maintenance Mechanic. Study and interpret mechanical or electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings or sketches to install new equipment or troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems; plans and determines working procedures and tool and materials requirements. Correct defective mechanical devices and other equipment by disassembling, installing new parts, refitting; adjusts and maintains mechanical equipment. Install air, water, gas and refrigerant lines; repair and maintain plumbing. Repair and maintain temperature control systems. Repair and maintain all college HVAC systems. Repair and maintain AC & DC electrical systems. Repair and maintain electronic equipment and systems. Operate and program the building automation system. Responsible for the maintenance of the college's swimming pool. Clean boilers, add chemicals to boiler water, cooling towers and closed water systems. Make chemical tests as required and keeps boiler house log. May act as lead worker in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Lead Maintenance Mechanic.
