Title: Maintenance Mechanic III, Electrician

Position Summary:

  • Performs skilled work associated with the electrical trade

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system, lighting system or equipment

  • Applies Journeyman skills, experience, and general knowledge to complete the maintenance tasks associated with the electrical equipment

  • Utilizes appropriate instruments to test circuits and systems and draws upon expertise for diagnosis and emergency repairs

  • Adjusts, repairs, and replaces equipment, fixtures, and components

  • Installs new equipment

  • Uses all shop machinery, testing equipment, tools and safety practices as appropriate for trade to complete assigned task

Assists engineers in diagnosing problems and recommending correctable action

  • Serves as leader for less skilled assistants occasionally

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Vocational school or any equivalent combination of training and experience preferred


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required


  • Must hold a Master Electrician's License

  • Valid Georgia Driver's License required

  • Eligible to acquire CDL

  • Must be insurable by Fulton County Schools' insurance carriers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade

  • Skilled in use of hand and power tools, testing equipment and attachments related to the trade

  • Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal

  • Must be able to work variable shifts

  • Regular exposure to radiant or electrical energy, high voltage (over 440 volts) and/or chemicals

  • Regular exposure to moving machinery and/or vehicles

  • Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity

  • Must be able to work from tall ladders, scaffolds, lifts and bucket trucks

  • Typically requires climbing ladders, pushing and/or pulling

  • May require high degree of precision working with minimum tolerances

  • May require stooping, crawling, and bending

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry for short distances

Salary Information:

Salary Range for 201-2019

  • $40,552 - $47,860

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule A-235, Professional Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.

The Electrician III position shall be responsible for providing the highest quality of Engineering Services to clients, maintenance of our facilities and ensuring that all services are performed in a timely manner meeting all federal, state, county and city codes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform routine facility maintenance of lighting and electrical systems. * Perform installation of electrical and other services as provided by the engineering department. * Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis upon providing exhibitors and clients the highest level of customer service deemed possible. * Monitor and secure the safe keeping of electrical and facility equipment and supplies as required. * Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement. * Position requires an irregular work schedule, and the performance of work assignments, that may not be directly related to job specifications. * Participate in periodic departmental meetings as required. * Participate in all Georgia World Congress Center and Engineering Department training programs as required. * Performance of such other duties, functions, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
