Primary Responsibilities:

  • Examines machines to diagnose faults, dismantles machines, replaces defective parts, reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.

  • Complete intermediate level plumbing work, mechanical repairs, and electrical troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoots equipment defects to root cause and takes the appropriate steps to make the repair correctly and to standard

  • With limited assistance, repairs and performs preventative maintenance of electro-mechanical production equipment

  • Ensures proper handling of hazardous materials.

  • Assist with moving production equipment on the production floor

  • Takes an active role to ensure Environment, Health, and Safety standards and procedures are met and complied with

  • Ensures quality product utilizing Collins Aerospace quality procedures

  • Audits work area for safety compliance

  • Adheres to all Collins Aerospace rules and codes of conduct

  • Performs other duties as required and available for overtime as necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two year technical program is highly desired

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Electrical troubleshooting

  • Basic keyboard and computer skills for electronic work order management

  • Intermediate knowledge of machine equipment and facility mechanics

  • Intermediate electrical, heavy equipment, installation and welding experience

  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools

  • Must have the ability to work on ladders and platforms

  • Must be able to operate forklifts, man lifts, and other vehicles as required

  • Respirator use required; must perform respiratory, pulmonary and fit testing annually

  • Will be included in blood borne pathogen training program

  • Intermediate interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to train others

  • Knowledgeable on safety rules and regulations

The maintenance mechanic is directly involved with the execution of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs. In this role you will * Performs Total Productive Maintenance for all equipment related to manufacturing. Tracks repair history in the maintenance database. * Installs automation equipment or projects in support of continuous improvement projects. * Repairs electric, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits as needed. Replaces defective components to restore proper operation of equipment and mechanical systems. Makes modifications to equipment to achieve desired results. Maintains accurate records and metrics related to machine downtime due to maintenance issues. Works with contractors verifying compliance to desired results. * Performs activities relating to 6s in order to drive better work place standardization. Delivers timely responses to gemba walk observations, quality audits, and 6s audit findings. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures. Responsed promptly to minimize downtime, and drive improvements, * Communicates potential hazards immediately to supervisor and identifies and corrects potential unsafe conditions. * Participates on kaizen activities when related areas of responsibility. * May also coordinate outside equipment calibration activities for flow controllers sensor operations, including validation and testing of equipment upon return from calibration. * Completes other duties as assigned. Traits we believe make a strong candidate High School Diploma and 1-2 years maintenance experience. Ability to operate forklift truck. Ability to read and understand maintenance instructions and prints, perform math computations and computer data entry. Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb a ladder up to 15 ft. and walk and stand during entire shift. Works in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
