Summary

This role is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, and repair production equipment, heavy trucks, and special purpose machines as assigned

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut, change parts, and complete tasks as assigned

  • Weld and use cutting torch as required

  • Perform general repairs to plant structures

  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition

  • Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs, and discuss with Head Mechanic for approval and repair as needed

  • Replace faulty parts, electrical wires, motors, controls, and circuit boards

  • Install equipment and electrical components and test to ensure proper functioning

  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools

  • Replace and install parts as needed

  • Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure proper operation

  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements / Education / Experience

  • High school diploma/equivalent, or comparable in training, education, or experience

  • Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent in training or experience

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and operations manuals and follow step by step instructions

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability are essential

  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, or related field preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Lift tools, machinery parts, and other objects weighing up to 80lbs each, assistance available if needed

  • Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching

  • Standing for an extended period of time

  • Able to work under extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: * Performs inspections and repairs of aircraft and components in accordance with maintenance procedures, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations * Upon installation or removal of any component or assembly, the Mechanic shall verify by physical inspection or markings on the part that the part number and serial number match the associated documentation * Ensures all aircraft maintenance documentation is executed in compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies and procedures, and applicable maintenance manuals to include specific chapters * Actively participates in the continuous improvement phase (level 4) of the company's Safety Management System (SMS) and is familiar with the SMS policies, processes, and procedures * Maintains work area in a clean and professional manner * Other Duties as assigned 135 Specific * Responsible for correcting compliance or safety issues when directed by the Director of Operations, Director of Maintenance, Chief Pilot, Regional Maintenance Director, Director of Safety, Regional Maintenance Manager, or Lead MechanicPerforms maintenance on 145 shop's support equipment * Responsible for advising the Pilot in Command (PIC) of any maintenance issues that would take an aircraft out of service * Responsible for validating or confirming the data in the Status Report concerning the aircraft he or she is working on including * Request aviation parts and supplies in order to maintain an adequate and orderly inventory of all stock items to ensure prompt repairs for operational readiness Additional Job Requirements * Regular scheduled attendance * Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling: Subject to applicable laws and Air Method's policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
