Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, CF, the Maintenance Mechanic, CF is responsible for the inspections, maintenance and repair of buildings and mechanical systems. Performs minor electrical maintenance and repair work.

Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates, prevents escapes and injury to themselves, others, or to state property. Maintains security of working areas and work materials, inspects premises and searches inmates for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs. Inmates will be supervised by staff at all times including movement to and from work areas.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
