Full-time position available with the Conventions & Entertainment Facilities Department, Facility Maintenance Division located at 301 West 13th Street and the Public Works Department, Street Maintenance District 3 Division located at 4725 E. Coal Mine Road

Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour

Normal Work Days/Hours: Facility Maintenance Division:

Sunday-Wednesday, 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Street Maintenance District 3 Division: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance Division:

• Applies the application of skills generally of a journeyman level in several different crafts, particularly those of the mechanical and electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, and machinery maintenance variety.

• Performs a full range of duties related to event, show and facility set-up including installation, repairs and maintenance of equipment used in the operation of the Convention facilities including basketball floors, operable walls, retractable risers, fencing, and utility carts.

• Maintains and operates snow removal equipment, forklifts, man lifts and loaders.

• Operates computer automated building controls for lighting and HVAC.

Street Maintenance District 3 Division:

• Provides service, repair, and maintenance of terminals and outer buildings.

• Performs general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry and machinery maintenance.

Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and 4 years of experience in a variety of mechanical crafts; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.

May be required to obtain a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S.

Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
