JOB SUMMARY: Support Factory needs in regards to all equipment to achieve plan and improve on process efficiency and performance. Support and actively manage troubleshooting and preventative maintenance program to maximize equipment availability, reduce unplanned stoppages, reduce energy and water usage.

DESCRIPTION (RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance and testing on equipment

  • Perform maintenance tasks to include - repairing and improving, from minor rebuilds to major overhauls on all equipment.

  • Identify processing waste reduction opportunities and assist in reduction projects.

  • Participate in preventative maintenance program to help reduce costs of operations through PM optimization.

  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs and tests electrical, electronic and mechanical components to determine component-level failure

  • Support equipment installations, retrofits and upgrades to include vendors and contractors

  • Communicate, coach and train employees to continuously improve team's ability to respond to equipment failures and loss of production.

  • Actively support NCE through SLC DOR, DER, GSTD's

  • DMAIC projects and Debriefs or shift handoffs
  • Maintains preventative maintenance logs and accurate records of all testing and repairs

  • Recommends equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs. Perform Preventative Maintenance task to identify all potential mechanical and electrical issues with equipment throughout the plant. Rebuild worn-out, but reusable, pieces of equipment, such as gearboxes for scheduled PM's.

  • Troubleshoot/ investigate and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and utility systems including chillers, air compressors etc. Eliminates problems from recurring utilizing the Breakdown Analysis process

  • Communicates directly with equipment suppliers, contractors and vendors as necessary

  • Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to

  • Production support

  • Mechanical Room- Water Processing

  • Boiler Room

  • Waste Water Treatment- Water Chemical Treatment Program

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three or more years proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Prior experience with high and low pressure compressors, chillers, water treatment, boilers is preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge of compressed air systems (pneumatics), electrical systems, hydraulics and water processing is preferred

  • Knowledge of bottling equipment, PM programs and SAP system preferred

  • Successfully demonstrates strong mechanical abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with all employees.

  • Must have electrical knowledge of single and three phase power including the ability to diagnose and replace electric motors

  • Must be able to work and accomplish projects with little to zero supervision

  • Must be able to foster and build a team-work environment

  • Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members

  • Maintain a high level of professional and organizational ethics and image with all plant and outside personnel

  • Able to read, interpret and analyze computer generated reports

  • Perform all tasks with extreme accuracy

  • Must be able to do physical inspections, (i.e. climbing, reaching, extending)

  • Must be proficient with mechanical drawings and OEM technical prints for parts identification

  • Proficient computer navigation skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Available for call-ins or to cover all shifts to support production teams as required

  • Works together with Safety department to achieve a zero injury workplace

  • Must display a positive mental attitude and be open to a fast paced ever changing work environment

Complete facilities and equipment repairs reflecting some variety and complexity based on expected proficiencies established through the Facilities Maintenance Structure and Program. Mechanic B should possess basic skills level across all areas to perform work with occasional assistance from Mechanic A. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure all equipment and facilities are operating effectively and efficiently in order to support all operations. Make sure all equipment meets standards, codes and regulatory requirements. * Carry out the duties in a productively manner and learn skills available through training and job shadowing. Training will be offered and is necessary to move from various levels as well as a demonstrated ability to perform the work at current level based on assessment by manager. * Enter work into the computer maintenance system throughout work shift and use to investigate and identify repeat repairs and previous work performed on that equipment * Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment and systems as necessary * Be proficient in performing preventative and predictive maintenance with assistance * Able to safely shut down systems and equipment and meets all standards, codes, and regulatory requirements * Able to trouble shoot and assist other mechanics when performing work on systems and equipment * Meet evaluation standards on work orders and observations by management to assess and evaluate skill level and proficiency within maintenance department * Able to provide guidance and training to Maintenance Support Associates * Remain proficient in maintenance trade as required and stay current with today's technology as required and offered by training courses/classes. * Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs * Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity * Perform works at minimal skill levels in areas of safety, electrical, electronics, refrigeration, material handling, mechanical, welding, fire systems, domestic water/waste water (where applicable) * Follow good sanitation practices; keep work area clean and free of debris Requirements Basic Qualification: * High school education or equivalent * Mechanical and electrical aptitude * Successful completion of assessment evaluation to demonstrate experience and proficiency in areas or tasks assigned Preferred Qualification: * Prior experience in mechanical areas * Certified on a powered industrial equipment where applicable * Familiarity/experience in maintenance environment * The individual will need to show minimal experience, expertise, and proficiency in the follow essential functions to be hired or hold a Mechanic B level position in one or more of the following areas based on assessment by manager: o Safety o Electrical o Refrigeration o Material Handling o Mechanical o Welding o Fire Systems o Domestic Water/Waste Water * Mechanics are required to supply their own tools Skills/Abilities: * Possess good communication, verbal and written skills * Dexterity with both hands * Knowledge and understanding of schematic / blueprint documents * Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 80 lbs. * Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functions * Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision * Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time * Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions from time to time * Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks) * Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers * Able to work in a team environment * Able to gain knowledge and learn more complex tasks as experience is gained over time * Able to supply own tools to complete required work * Able to work independently with minimal supervision * Be able to provide guidance / coordination with the operation and maintenance staff Apply On-line Delhaize America South Portland ME
