This position performs maintenance in the areas of control systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, basic electrical, and basic plumbing. All duties performed are to reduce breakdowns, improve planned maintenance, and optimize scheduled maintenance. These responsibilities will be performed in compliance with all company and regulatory programs including, but not limited to: SQF, HACCP, GMP, OSHA, FDA, USDA and EPA policies and procedures.
Work safely at all times and report any safety issues or malfunctions immediately to supervisor.
Actively participate in programs to improve workplace safety including, but not limited to, attending plant-wide safety training, conducting near misses and participating in plant audits.
Ensure the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards. The Maintenance supervisor will delegate the responsibilities of the mechanic when out of the office.
Use skills to plan, write, modify, layout, order parts, install, troubleshoot and maintain all plant equipment (including electrical).
Perform preventative (including electrical) maintenance for entire plant
Read blueprints and trade instructions in order to troubleshoot problems, offer solutions, order parts, and repair equipment.
Determine proper materials, fittings and fasteners for various applications and pressure requirements. Clean and reset valves and traps.
Use electronic and electrical testing apparatus to troubleshoot electrical conditions and complete basic electrical repair or changes such as burned motors and switches.
Follow all company, regulatory and department policies regarding good manufacturing practices (GMP), plant rules, lock out/tag out, safety, HACCP, environmental and sanitation.
Assist in training of other maintenance personnel.
Clean, organize and maintain tools and equipment.
Assume other duties as needed or as assigned by the supervisor or lead person.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. College/Technical degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years industrial maintenance experience in food manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Pneumatics, PLC, VFD's and other industrial controls for troubleshooting various types of manufacturing equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
Use of analytical skills to determine root cause issues with equipment failure, or optimization of equipment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision; be self-motivated, precise and conscientious.
Knowledge of and ability to use and care for specialized testing equipment and tools.
Must have and maintain an above average work record, as well as, excellent absentee/tardy record.
Must be willing to attend training as needed and designated by supervisor.
