Responsibilities

  • Creates a culture of accountability and communication within the maintenance department

  • Leads the department by example in their daily activities

  • Analyzes technical skills of maintenance employees and develops plans to improve them

  • Manages the storeroom and spare parts inventory.

  • Develops, implements, and sustains equipment specific preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Prepares detailed budgets for facility maintenance expense

  • manage multimillion dollar maintenance budget

  • manage multimillion dollar capital project budget

  • Plans and executes routine facility maintenance and extended shutdowns.

  • Evaluates the quality of work from contractors and vendors relative to cost to determine best expenditure of company funds

  • Ensures safe and healthy working conditions and an organized work environment

  • Manage and schedule maintenance on rolling stock

  • Work with multiple vendors during research for upgrades on our equipment

  • Review quotes for all projects and parts

  • Work with production to increase production and reliability

  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential function of the job.

  • A min. of 7 years maintenance leadership experience in a continuous manufacturing environment is required, wood manufacturing facility preferred.

  • Knowledge of organizational and functional operating structure, products, administrative procedures and policies.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of HR policies, practices, and procedures as it relates to employee relations, hiring, terminations, benefit and compensation plans and administrative guidelines.

  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement, and control expenditure while maintaining and improving quality standards.

  • Demonstrated experience of skill and expertise required to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and other basic mechanical and operating problems.

  • Proficient using a PC and other department specific databases and/or systems and using all assigned department machinery and other related equipment.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively interact with Senior Management and internal customers.

  • Ability to communicate with others in an antagonistic situation using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension and conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.

  • Ability and willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions; ability to work in a high-pressure environment and exercise good judgment to resolve problems in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.

  • Excellent human resources management skills to effectively lead and direct a diverse work group and achieve results through team efforts. Ability and desire to motivate, persuade, and direct the activities of other.

We are a Fortune 500 company (NYSE: MHK) and our competitive advantages are huge Responsibilities Please Note: This is a rotating Day shift position 7 am - 7 pm Operates the wood yard, refining, gluing and drying processes. + Monitors the continuous production of product through the wood yard, refiner, gluing system and dryer. + Identifies process variation, determines the source, and works to eliminate it. + Performs root cause analysis on problems. + Communicates with other control room operator’s to maintain stabile and consistent production. + Assists in planning and executing production line shutdowns to minimize downtime while maximizing efficiency. + Monitors fiber quality, moisture and takes immediate action to eliminate problems negatively impacting it. + Performs basic maintenance related tasks. + Directs refiner area housekeeping activities during outages. + Assists maintenance personnel in performing technical work. + Performs other related duties as required. + Must be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs. for a short distance. + Must be capable of standing/walking for a 12 hour shift with minimal breaks. + Must be able to withstand working in heat up to 110 degrees for extended periods of time. + Must be able climb ladders and stairs up to heights of 50 ft. + Must be capable of working on elevated surfaces without fear of heights. + Must be able to communicate clearly on 2 way radio. + Must be able to wear and work with a full face respirator. Qualifications Requires 2 or more years experience in a manufacturing environment Core competencies include strong communication and interpersonal skills, listening skills, data analysis and interpretation. Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time on concrete. Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and dusty environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs occasionally. Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs and work off elevated surfaces. Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces or wearing a respirator for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes. Must be able to make repetitive motions involving twisting and turning and using the force of 50 lbs. Must be able to kneel and bend over frequently. Must be able to climb on and work around machinery resulting in awkward or uncomfortable positions. Must be able to sit and drive forklift on uneven driving surface. Must have vision of 20/50 (corrected or not).
