ABB is seeking a Maintenance Manager for it's Hackettstown, New Jersey location. This role is responsible for managing technical expertise and leadership to the maintenance and facility operations in regards to office and factory buildings, grounds, equipment maintenance and operating costs, environmental compliance, and assistance to safety programs.

Tasks:

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management of all maintenance and facility activities for the Hackettstown plant. Develop and manage departmental staffing and budget plans.

  • Development of strategic improvement plans for the facility, equipment and supporting functions (logistics, safety, environmental, etc.)

  • Develop, implement and manage a Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) program utilizing maintenance software database and provide both technical and maintenance resources to the resolution of the facility and equipment issues. This includes the upgrading and improving the process capability of factory production equipment.

  • Initiate facility-related capital requisitions and coordinate capital spending to meet current and future production requirements. Provide leadership in major plant layout improvements including the movement of major capital equipment.

  • Select bids, monitor and manage progress and costs of suppliers and contractors for facility grounds and equipment projects, coordinating activities with responsible user departments.

  • Assist, support and provide expertise to the Hackettstown housekeeping and safety programs including the identification of equipment, work area, and facility needs for repair, maintenance and/or upgrade and replacement.

  • Manage and monitor environmental programs in Hackettstown and submit periodic reports to factory and corporate management, state and federal agencies. Initiate and manage routine audit programs that assure that the Hackettstown facility complies with all state and federal environmental regulations.

  • Develop and provide cross training for all maintenance personnel in regards to the various aspects of the maintenance department including: Safety, TPM, robotics, environmental regulations, CNC and programmable controls, hydraulics, etc. as required.

  • Perform, as assigned, other similar or related duties.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in facility & maintenance role and 5 years of supervisory / managerial experience.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred.

  • Familiarity with various types of fire protection systems, HVAC, air handling systems, building and equipment/electrical requirements/codes for the state of New Jersey.

  • Knowledge of factory layouts, material flow optimization, project management, systematic problem solving, TPM, regulatory management, i.e. DEP, EPA, OSHA. Exposure to manufacturing and assembly techniques, equipment and methodologies (automotive, plastic and/or cellular manufacturing.

  • Training and knowledge in CNC equipment, robotics, plastic and rubber molding semi-automated assembly equipment and/or cellular manufacturing.

This position is accountable for developing and communicating appropriate structure, work systems, standards, and associate capabilities to deliver the facility capital and energy control plans.   Principal Accountabilities: * Schedule and coordinate day to day activities of facilities and utilities staff and resources. Lead team meetings.  Audit SAP for work order accuracy and utilization. * Obtain competitive bids and create requisitions for parts and vendor services as needed.  Manage assigned projects in all stages to meet expected outcome.  Accountable for delivering project objectives, day to day activities within budget and scheduled time.  * Coordinates delivery of services and repairs from outside vendors. * Anticipate change and develop plans to makes quick and effective decisions. * Responsible for management and maintenance of utility equipment and reliability, including 24/7 Utility area coverage. * Responsible for utilities/ buildings/grounds budget upkeep.  * Initiate and mange investigation of significant out of norm utility usage. * Train technicians to interpret data (trend data, identify root cause, implement solution). * Train technicians to formulate actions to address non-conformance issues. * In-depth knowledge of quality systems and all work instructions for area.  Provide input for improvements/changes to work instructions. * Provide project planning and estimate moderately complex jobs. * Train technicians on safe operating procedures. * Provide input to any investigation for area of responsibility. * Provide input as appropriate regarding safety. Ensure working conditions are Normal and enforce safety requirements. Provide input to project safety reviews (SSEPR) on systems in area. * Use and follow all engineering standards when implementing projects. * Effectively communicates and schedule PMs and improvements to area. * Maintains clean work environment including 5S adherence and follow through to ensure completion of action plans to address sources of contamination. * Support role in cleaning and sanitation of area. * Jointly agree, with the Manager, job and development expectations for associates by area/job  * Communicate job and development expectations to associates * Provide performance coaching and feedback to associates on a regular basis * Involved with hiring decisions along with Manager * Team Engagement including facilitation of team building discussions  * Provide supplemental input for associates’ performance reviews * Responsible for insuring complete and current troubleshooting documentation on equipment within area of responsibility. * Lead and safely execute start-up and shutdown activities. * Maintenance co-ordinator role:  Provides non-exempt leadership to maintenance area ensure efficient logistics and use of resources throughout the entire shop floor process (full-time and contractor manpower).   * Prioritizes all of the maintenance activities such as unplanned work orders, continuous improvement activities, and operational preventative maintenance programs. * Monitor CMMS accuracy for their crew. * Demonstrated ability to resolve non-routine issues at root cause and incorporate into preventive actions. * Detailed knowledge of area including process flow, rates, critical control points, metrics (ATS, TRS, costs). * Ability to troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues and direct maintenance team resources towards achieving safe, timely, cost efficient solutions. * Develop best practices for area and insure best practices are followed. * Lead or participate in continuous improvement efforts. * Effectively works and communicates with all departments (scheduling, engineering, R&D, IE, logistics, operations, etc.).   Key Functional Skills/Knowledge: * General skills and basic mechanical and/or electrical aptitude * Able to operate all systems in area being led * Responsible for co-ordination and effectiveness of start-ups, transitions, and shutdowns * Demonstrates technical/analytical skills by effectively performing troubleshooting and repair/replace on modules of expertise * Knowledge of the line or area goals and performance * Proficient at analyzing information concerning module of expertise * Understands performance metrics (ATS, TRS, waste, etc.) * Understands direct impact on internal and external customers   Minimum Requirements:  * Technical Diploma or Certificate in HVAC with Electrical controls and or relevant working experience in Utilities, Gas and Oil Fired Boilers, HVAC, Industrial Refrigerant Systems.   * Prior experience managing budgets for utilities/building/grounds.   * Minimum 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment that includes Electrical Controls, Utilities, Gas and Oil Fired Boilers, Steam and Hot Water Systems, Industrial Refrigerant Systems, and Plant Maintenance. * Minimum 3+ years of experience leading and supervising technical personnel. * Specialized Knowledge Needed to Perform Job: Ability to read and interpret building drawings such as equipment, electrical circuit schematics, process piping which include chill water, domestic water, underground piping and HVAC. * Special Skills: Analyze and Evaluate Technical Data for equipment, utilities and processes. * Ability to communicate verbally and in writing across all shifts and to associates of varying technical ability. * Ability to work off shifts/holidays/weekends as project schedules/business needs dictate   Preferred Qualifications: * Associates degree or higher level education * Plant Maintenance with a Refrigerant Handling License and a Waste Treatment License is preferred. * 3+ years of experience in a management/supervisor role in a manufacturing environment that includes Electrical Controls, Utilities, Gas and Oil Fired Boilers, Steam and Hot Water Systems, Industrial Refrigerant Systems, and Plant Maintenance. * New Jersey Gold Seal 1st Class 1A Stationary Engineer license     #LI-MP1 Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
