$18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience; $1.50 per hour increase upon successful completion of six-month probation.

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Position works a regular schedule of Thursday and Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Monday, 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

SUMMARY

Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on college facilities, equipment and grounds to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.

  • Performs grounds maintenance on campus landscape.

  • Performs maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical and plumbing systems.

  • Repairs and maintains lockable hardware such as doors, automatic electric doors, windows, lockers and magnetic keying systems to ensure safety of facilities.

  • Leads or assists in the construction, alteration, preparation, painting and repair to structures.

  • Inspects, repairs, or replaces pumps, valves and boiler systems.

  • May provide maintenance and repair of vehicles; maintains appropriate service and repair records.

  • Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.

  • Provides college campus security and campus safety services.

  • Drives FVCC vehicles in a safe and lawful manner for travel on and off campus; maintains clean driving record as a condition of employment.

  • Operates and uses a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely.

  • Reads and comprehends plans and blueprints.

  • Maintains cooperative working relationships.

  • Performs snow and ice removal from designated areas.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to function as a successful member of the Maintenance Services team.

  • Reports to the Manager of Maintenance Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent; AND,
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in multiple trade areas; AND,
  • Current Montana driver's license upon employment; AND,
  • Current Montana boiler operator license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in large-scale facilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Broad knowledge of standard practices and procedures of construction trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems, including materials and tools; applicable code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment; computer software programs including e-mail and service request systems.

  • Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.

  • Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards.

  • Ability to complete related trainings as required: forklift operation certification, lock out tag out, fall arrest, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, inhouse.

  • OSHA and respirator training.

  • Ability to read and follow directions.

  • Ability to be bonded and insured throughout employment.

  • Ability to safely and efficiently perform all required duties of the position including, but not limited to, work in confined spaces; work on various length ladders; and working with strong chemicals.

  • Working knowledge of maintenance procedures and equipment and ability to identify safety problems.

  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the public, students, potential students and College community.

  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service.

  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.

  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships with staff, students, and public.

  • Demonstrated communication, technology and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical screen.

  • Ability to pass a driver's license records check and maintain current Montana Driver's License and a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency.

  • This is a Heavy Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Heavy Duty involves exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds continuously to move objects.
