Department: Maintenance

FLSA/Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Director of Facilities and Grounds


To perform routine maintenance duties including rough carpentry, painting, simple plumbing, and basic equipment or facility repairs. Completes event set ups as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to read and follow all set-up instructions/drawings for events being held in Willows Arbor, Health Center, Personal Care, and the Town Center.

  • Performs simple carpentry tasks, such as installing grab bars, towel bars, and hanging pictures.

  • Repair/replace toilet tank hardware, open clogged drains and toilets and other simple plumbing jobs.

  • Perform minor patching and painting duties.

  • Complete moves of resident furniture/personal items safely and without damage.

  • Repair nonfunctioning by-pass doorways.

  • Spot clean carpets using appropriate floor machines.

  • Replace damaged carpet squares in the Health Center.

  • Perform weekly vehicle preventative maintenance.

  • Respond to resident emergency alert system

  • Maintains a safe and productive work environment.

  • Assists with resident relation program; handle all resident concerns promptly. Keep the Director of Facilities and Grounds informed of all resident issues.

  • Completes all special assignments/projects as required by the Director of Facilities and Grounds.

Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Minimum of one year experience in general building maintenance or janitorial services.

  • Must be able to read simple instructions and follow simple diagrams.

  • Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.

  • Must have general knowledge of simple equipment used in the building trades.

Physical Requirements:
1.Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and to paint.
2.Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladders, and perform various

types of manual labor.
3.Ability to lift up to 50 pound occasionally.
4.Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs, and painting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Greet all residents as they enter the dining room with a warm smile. * Take accurate attendance of all residents to give to Guest Services. * Remove all walkers and wheel chairs to their designated areas. * Assist residents with seating when necessary and appropriate. * Manage all reservations, greet them as they enter the dining room, walk each party to their appropriate seats. * Help run room trays, food, and take orders as necessary. * Oversee closing and daytime work to ensure all assigned tasks are completed by wait staff. * Discuss with the Director of Dining Services about deep cleaning schedules, staffing changes, and other daily tasks that must be completed. Performance Measurements: Job Knowledge Teamwork Customer Service Safety Quality of Work Resident Satisfaction Communication Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials: * Prefer 1-3 years restaurant or institutional food service experience, including knowledge of food handling, service, and sanitation. * A sanitation certificate from the Illinois Department of Public health is desired. * Good communication and leadership skills. * Outgoing and energetic personality. * A strong desire to assist residents whenever necessary to ensure that their rights and needs are being met. Physical Requirements: * Must have the ability to stand and walk 6 -7 hours of an 8 hour shift. * Must have the ability to sit for 1 hour of an 8 hour shift. * Must have the ability to frequently lift and carry supplies and equipment 10 to 50 pounds while walking or bending at the waist and knees. * Must be able to frequently reach above shoulders, to the front and sides. * Must have the ability to frequently push carts with dishes and supplies exerting a force of up to 50 pounds. * Must be able to use wrists, fingers, and hands for repetitive firm grasping.
