Job Description:

The Maintenance Generalist II will coordinate the equipment and maintenance requirements of the College of Dentistry's laboratory courses taught in multidiscipline faculty, undergraduate and graduate dental laboratories, continuing education laboratory, and research laboratories through the dental sciences building, and laboratories located at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, Eastside (Gainesville), Hialeah, Jacksonville, Santa Fe Community College (Gainesville), and Seminole facilities. Duties may require presence at off-site clinical laboratories regularly. This position will assist with and facilitate building maintenance and renovation in the Dental Tower (Bldg. 205) and the facilities at Hialeah, Jacksonville, Naples and Seminole.

Specific duties include:

  • Attending to the maintenance requirements of equipment in the College of Dentistry's laboratory courses taught in multidiscipline faculty, undergraduate and graduate dental laboratories, continuing education laboratory, and research laboratories through the dental sciences building, and laboratories located at the ACORN (Gainesville), Hialeah, Yulee, and Seminole, facilities. Diagnose and repair dental equipment, including chairs; dental delivery units; dental examination lights; surgical lights, fiber optic lights; handpieces; laboratory equipment, foreign and domestic dental simulation units; and chemical, dry-heat, and steam sterilizing equipment.

  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and coordinate the maintenance needs of the college's Pre-clinical Simulation Laboratory consisting of 95 student workstations and an instructor's station, which offers the latest in dental pre-clinical equipment (a patient simulator, which resembles the upper portion of a mannequin, a computer monitor, a laptop computer hookup to the Internet, and a complete collection of dental instruments that operate like those in a clinical setting). Attend training seminars (as required) to become proficient in the repair of this specialized equipment. Follow guidance of Maintenance Generalists Ill in the repair of simulation laboratory equipment and follow through to ensure the completion of all repairs meet industry standards and guidelines. Consult with Maintenance Specialist or Maintenance Generalist Ill on equipment modifications or needs for use in teaching demonstrations.

  • Supporting Maintenance Specialist and Maintenance Generalist III with facility projects, to include refresh painting and drywall as needed/directed.

  • Repairing and calibrating dental x-ray machines, dental chairs, units, lights, mobiles, etc.

  • Instructing students on use, capabilities, and maintenance of equipment.

  • Performing daily checks and make notations in equipment log before patient care begins. Ensure proper guidelines are followed in replacing oxygen bottles (as determined). Maintain equipment for patient security and safety, and replace, repair, or return equipment (as determined necessary) to maintain clinic operation and provide patient care.

  • Completing preventative maintenance actions on a scheduled basis to include annual replacement of inline water filters of dental units, review of predoctoral dental units and related equipment quarterly for the ADEX/CDCA Dental Board Examinations and provide maintenance assistance during the board exam process.

  • Performing related duties (as necessary).

  • When directed, request estimates for repair of dental related equipment with manufacturers. Follow up on receipt of estimates and completion of repairs once bids awarded.

  • Instructing faculty members, staff members, and students on the proper use, capabilities, and care of dental equipment.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 - $19.50 hourly; commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

This position is directly responsible to Human Resources Manager. The individual in this position manages multiple HR programs for the Department of Housing such as: FMLA, worker's compensation, Kronos/payroll, probationary periods for new employees, as well as all departmental position descriptions. The person in this position must demonstrate an ability to make independent decisions, implement and communicate policy, and write procedures to support those policies. The person in this position must possess extensive knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to all required functions such as: PeopleSoft ePAF system, GatorJobs, Worker's Compensation and injury reporting; EEOC, FLSA and other employment laws; and other personnel or payroll functions. Incumbent serves as a lead worker and works indirectly with recruitment, hiring, and job edits through advising and guiding team members. Specific duties include: * Serve as Kronos Administrator for the Department of Housing and Residence Education. * Must maintain the Kronos system by managing program details, monitoring usage, uploading time to PeopleSoft through UF Elapsed Time File Import, run reports, determine corrections, sign off/lock out payroll. * Communicate with Kronos global support when necessary. * Handle staff requests for password resets on Kronos. Review requests for removal of biometrics. Provide formal and informal training on Kronos system. * Proactively communicate payroll deadlines and important dates to supervisors. * Serve as the primary PeopleSoft payroll approver. * Review the final pay list, ensure accuracy, and provide final sign off. Provide payroll documents to yearly auditors. * Complete and guide team members on the completion of payroll forms such as: on-cycle adjustments, prior 90 day adjustments, payroll distribution/retro requests, emergency check requests, and more. * Write and maintain payroll processing manuals. * Responsible for ensuring the overall completion and accuracy of the Housing payroll process by making final approval's in PeopleSoft and leading two (2) payroll processors. * Responsible for catching any errors and ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all necessary corrections. * Serve as team lead on general functionality questions, recruitment/processing questions, foreign national tax questions, and all types of ePAF questions to assist HR Manager. * Manage Department of Housing and Residence Education worker's compensation and modified duty program. * Handle communication with main HR worker's compensation specialist. * Ensure payroll accuracy for employee's out on leave for a worker's compensation injury. * Locate modified duty for injured workers. * Draft and issue modified duty letters. * Follow up and track all cases. * Monitor all new employee probationary periods. * Work with supervisors to discuss, assess, and determine potential red flags. * Advise on performance plan or probationary extensions when necessary. * Schedule and lead probationary meeting's with supervisor to check in at 3 months for the half way progress evaluation. * Follow up when the 6 month mark is approaching to ensure timely completion of probationary assessment or discuss other needed action plans. * Work with HR Manager directly regarding lower level ER case management. * Assist in preparing reprimand letters. Work directly and indirectly with main HR Employee Relations representative in any escalated FMLA case and other cases as requested by the HR Manager. * Pull quarterly reports to audit HMS database compared to PeopleSoft records to ensure accuracy * Run all types of reports from HMS and Enterprise Reporting as requested for a variety of staffing/payroll analytics. * Manage bi-annual OPS verification process to identify OPS that are gone but still showing active. * Work directly with Student Affairs IT Network Services to coordinate HMS updates and/or request new program function development for more efficient processing. * Assist HR Manager with special projects such as form creation, strategic planning, process improvement initiatives, best practice establishment, etc. Expected Salary: $48,000 - $51,000 annually. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
