Maintenance- Electrical & Instrumentation Technician- Frankfort, IN

The Challenge

The Maintenance/Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will perform planned preventive and predictive maintenance on process control and related electrical instrumentation/equipment to ensure reliability of plant equipment and overall achievement of site KPIs. The Frankfort, IN site is a smaller operation therefore, this role gives you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks outside of electrical and instrumentation responsibilities. The E & I Technician will be responsible for managing and ensuring safety compliance of the maintenance tasks and assigned project activities for the Frankfort site.

This position is regularly scheduled for dayshift, Monday through Friday. There may be special circumstances that require on-call availability.

The Position

  • Providing electrical maintenance services, including working with motors, breakers, starters and switch gear

  • Providing instrumentation maintenance services including troubleshooting, configuration, installation, documentation, checkout, and commissioning of instrumentation and valves

  • Maintaining instrument as-built and electrical P&IDs

  • The E&I Technician must understand plant maintenance issues, including:

predictive, preventative and reliability-centered maintenance program

  • MOC implementation

  • Coordinate work preparation and execution with owner and/or planner/scheduler

  • Decide on effective resolution of unexpected technical problems

  • Guarantee quality of completed job and transfer plant/equipment to owner

  • Analyze work done, compare with targets and discuss improvements with the maintenance staff

  • Suggest improvements to prevent recurring maintenance

  • Accept personal responsibility for own Safety and Health and that of colleagues

  • SHE Action item management

  • Cost control

The Ideal

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must have a minimum of three years of plant maintenance experience

  • A valid state Journeyman's license is preferred, but not required

  • Experience with motors, breakers, starters, and switch gear is required

  • Experience in configuration, calibration, installation, application, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting industrial instrumentation is a plus

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS

  • Experience with PLC, DCS and process instrumentation is preferred

The Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the production operation by performing preventative and routine maintenance such as; wiring, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, minimizing equipment downtime and completing preventative corrective maintenance. Responsibilities: * Support the production operation by providing immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime * Completing preventative and corrective maintenance on various meat processing equipment * Systematically troubleshoot and resolve issues with various facility equipment and tools * Perform other duties as needed or required Qualifications: * Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred, High School Diploma with sufficient experience will be considered * 1 to 2 years working in an industrial maintenance role * Must be able to successfully pass IPC's internal electrical and mechanical maintenance test * Knowledge of 110, 220 and 480 volt electrical systems * Ability to wire, troubleshoot and repair 3 Phase 480VAC systems * Ability to wire, troubleshoot and repair 24VDC and 120VAC control systems * Ability to wire, troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits * Ability to wire both low and high voltage motors * Ability to use DMM and Megger * Ability to properly size wire and circuit protection * Experience in maintaining mechanical drives, chain drives and conveyor systems * Experience in performing basic machine alignment using precision instruments * Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and gear boxes * Knowledge of refrigeration is a plus * Willingness to work extensive overtime, including the third week of every month * Must be able to read and comprehend various prints, schematics and other company related documents * Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment * Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments * Uphold company policies and ethical standards * Must possess personal hand tools for the position * Commitment to follow safety policies and practices * Willingness to complete Confined Space training * Hazmat certification a plus Indiana Packers offers its full-time team members excellent benefits including 401k Savings Plan, Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
