Summary of Job Duties:

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for general labor activities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms and facilities to include classrooms, offices, auditorium, stage and meeting rooms;

  • Move/arrange furniture (Set up/breakdown for events);

  • Collect and remove trash from grounds;

  • Maintain equipment and perform other minor repairs;

  • Assist with special events;

  • Operate light to medium maintenance equipment;

  • Provide assistance with other personnel on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems;

  • Open and secure buildings;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The primary location of this position is the Grand Prairie Center, however, assistance may be needed on the main campus or other locations.

Qualifications:

Flexible work schedule to include weekend and weeknights may be required. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions; must be able to perform manual labor: bend, reach, and move furniture without undue physical exertion(up to 50 lbs); must be able to perform general cleaning and be able to tolerate solvent and cleaning solution odors.

Must be able to operate various tools and equipment and have proven work experience. High school diploma or GED and experience in comparable setting required. Must have a valid Driver's license..
