Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Job Summary

Assists with the general maintenance operations of the aquatic center facility and equipment. Completes reports and required record keeping. Promotes and cultivates an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion, and engages in evidence-based decision-making, while supporting the mission, goals, and values of the department and college.

Essential Duties

  • Assists with monitoring pool water chemistry in accordance with Oregon Health Code.

  • Maintains walkways and storage areas for safety and egress.

  • Vacuums the pools, and assists with maintenance of the vacuums.

  • Assists with maintainenance, setup, and inventory of the electronic timing system.

  • Performs extensive cleaning duties within the pools areas and locker rooms.

  • Regularly inspects and performs or recommends repairs to ladders, guard stands, lifts, diving board, lane lines and reels, pool covers and reels, pool vacuums, water polo goals, diving blocks, portable bleachers and pool equipment carts.

  • Assists with special event setup and takedown.

Additional Duties

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate at a level sufficient to perform the functions of the position

  • Experience with custodial tasks

  • Experience with power tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with light construction and/or equipment maintenance

  • Knowledge of pool circulation and sanitation systems

  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff and supervisor(s)

  • Ability to work independently and accomplish assigned tasks

  • Ability to react quickly and effectively in emergencies and assist with the facility's Emergency Action Plan

  • Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance when needed

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions

Works variable schedule and exhibits regular and predictable attendance. Work may be performed in an office and recreation facility. Work may be performed in an outdoor or indoor facility during variable weather conditions. The work is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Requires extensive mobility for extended periods of time. Works with a variety of equipment and power tools
