Under general supervision, the Mailroom Associate is responsible for sorting and distributing incoming mail and packages, and preparing outgoing mail. The Mailroom Associate is also responsible for retrieving and distributing interoffice mail and packages.Responsibilities:
1.Incoming Mail: Sorts incoming letter mail/packages; distributing to Employees and Departments timely. 2. Packages without a Purchase Order #: Sorts and logs packages; distributing to Employees and Departments timely. 3. Interoffice Mail: Retrieves and sort's interoffice mail; distributing to Employees and Departments timely. 4. Outgoing Mail: Collects, prepares, and processes letter mail and packages. Properly seals and stamps by hand or processes through postage machine. Returns Department/Employee rejected mail/package(s) to mailroom for further evaluation by Manager. 5. Recognizes problems in the delivery and/or receipt of mail/packages and actively seeks immediate resolution. 6. Maintains work area in a neat, orderly manner. 7. Performs other related duties as assigned. Standard Requirements:
Regulatory/Safety: Adheres to HIPPA regulations of confidentiality regarding all mail and patient information. Maintains diligence when handling mail for suspicious parcels and letters. Communication: Requires effective communication skills to regularly interact with all hospital departments and physician offices. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills by being helpful, courteous and friendly. Physical Demands: Ability to life a maximum of 50 pounds and frequent walking, bending, standing are required.
General knowledge of postal regulations, preferred. License / Certification / Registration: Current NYS driver's licenses, preferred.
High school graduate or equivalent, preferred.
