Reports to: Mailroom Supervisor
Hours: 6-8 per week
Pay Rate: regular Work Study rate
The role of a Student Mailroom Assistant is to handle the distribution of packages to students, staff and faculty members on campus. They help to sort and organize all incoming mail for the University, assist with the intake of shipments, and assist mailroom visitors with any questions or concerns.
Primary Duties:
Assist in distributing mail to the appropriate post office boxes.
Scan, check-in and sort packages for students and staff.
Help manage the mailroom counter.
Answer the mailroom phone.
Distribute packages to students and faculty/staff.
Other mailroom-related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Eligible for Work Study during the length of employment.
Cumulative 2.0 GPA by the first day of work.
Ability to lift heavy packages and mail bags, up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to abide by confidentiality policy and federal mail laws.
Ability to demonstrate skill in detail-orientation.
Ability to demonstrate good communication skills.
