Job Description and Duties

The Employment Development Department (EDD), Document Management Division (DMD) is searching for a motivated, skilled, and challenge-seeking individual who enjoys innovation, problem solving, and is interested in working with an exciting team of professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Under general direction of the Office of Documents, Publications, and Distribution's Mail Processing and Distribution Group Mailing Machines Supervisor I, the Outgoing Mail and Courier Delivery Unit, the incumbent is responsible to operate and maintain a variety of machines such as mail metering machines with electronic accounting systems and interfacing electronic scales, tyers, and related mailroom equipment. The Mailing Machine Operator I (MMO I) learns to set up, adjust and operate high volume intelligent inserting systems, heavy duty folders, and joggers. The incumbent applies knowledge of United States Postal Service regulations and rates related to the processing of first, third, certified, registered, express, insured mail, and other courier services, uses automated systems to process and track all packages sent by courier service, and prepares dated miscellaneous and accountable mail pieces for posting. The MMO I assist in training of less experienced staff and may act in a lead capacity.

The incumbent must also have strong organizational and communication abilities (written and verbal) to support the EDD's mission, vision, values, and business priorities. This position is conveniently located in West Sacramento while offering free parking.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work overtime on a mandatory basis when workload or schedule requires. Work in a noisy environment Stand for long periods of time. Adapt to rotational cross training and accept assignment changes to work hours. Lift 25 pounds or more on a regular basis.

Background Investigation Requirement
