As the Mail Clerk, your duties will include managing all incoming and outgoing mail and parcels for the OURCU organization, which encompasses boxes, packages, and supply orders. The processing of incoming mail will involve screening for and being vigilant about suspicious or potentially dangerous materials. You will be responsible for the transportation of these materials to the various OURCU branch offices across Mason and Gray's Harbor Counties, ensuring a once-a-day distribution and pickup, five days a week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts daily pickups and deliveries to the Post Office and ensures the cleanliness of the mail rooms. Collects outgoing mail from all departments at the Shelton Branch Offices promptly, guaranteeing that mail is dispatched on time each day.

    Maintains the mail machine in working order and ensures accurate and timely processing of postage. Is accountable for immediately notifying

management of any mail machine issues and collaborates with management to arrange necessary repairs. Is chiefly in charge of gathering and distributing interoffice mail to branches on a set schedule: Mason County branches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; Grays Harbor and Steamboat branches on Tuesday and Thursday.

  • Assists area personnel when needed. Keeps management updated on area activities and significant issues.

    Carries out clerical tasks as assigned. Completes special assignments as necessary.

  • Ensure that postage and supplies for the mail machine are always readily available for use.

  • Carries out additional job-related responsibilities as delegated by the immediate supervisor.

EXPERIENCE:

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in mailroom or clerical positions. Exceptional organizational and time management abilities are essential. Attention to detail and accuracy is mandatory, along with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information related to members and employees.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

High School Diploma or its equivalent is preferred. Prior experience in a mailroom or clerical role is preferred.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Having strong organizational and time-management skills is crucial. Proficiency in both verbal and written communication is also required. Additionally, the ability to work independently is essential.

OTHER SKILLS

Applicants are required to have a Washington State Driver's License and must show proof of insurance. The employment process includes the successful completion of an MVR, Credit, and Criminal Background Check.

The position requires using one's personal vehicle for pick-up and delivery duties. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that offers mileage reimbursement alongside the hourly pay. ADA Requirements are also to be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The role demands the ability to bend, stoop, occasionally climb or reach, and to sit or stand for prolonged periods-typically 4 to 5 hours daily. It is primarily an active position, requiring the lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. regularly.

The applicant must also be able to climb or descend stairs during emergencies. Operating standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and calculators, is essential. Computer work may be necessary for 0 to 2 hours daily. Moreover, the position may require working additional hours or traveling off-site as needed or as instructed by management.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The primary work environment for this position is indoors, featuring climate control and minimal noise. However, employees may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather and varying temperatures when traveling between branches.
