CLASS DESCRIPTION

Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks (BCRP) is seeking a Mail Carrier. The Mail Carrier is responsible for delivering various types of letters, certified mail, parcels, and packages to the municipal post office, BCRP's worksites, and sister agencies on foot/via an assigned City vehicle. The Community Aide/Mail Carrier will work a part-time schedule, Monday

• Friday 8:30 a.m.

• 2:30 p.m. This a temporary position; the incumbent for this position shall not exceed two years of temporary employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Delivers/Pickup mail.

• Travels a directed route to deliver and collect mail.

• Covers a route on foot, by vehicle, or by a combination of the two.

• Collects signatures for special hand deliveries.

• Answers customer questions regarding mail delivery.

• Complete daily log vehicle checklist and log sheet.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED Certificate.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: A valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out of state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management will be required as a condition of employment.

NOTE: Those eligible candidates who are under final consideration for appointment to positions in this class will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
