What does a Magnolia Design Center System Designer do?

The Magnolia Design Center System Designer is responsible for providing system design and sales proposals to customers seeking premium electronics solutions. The System Designer is empowered to provide a premium level of service to our customers by traveling to the customers home to perform advanced level consultations. The System Designer builds and manages relationships with builders, architects, interior designers and local Best Buy stores. This role will also be responsible for store merchandising, Area of Responsibilities (AOR), personal developments and other operational duties as assigned.

As a Magnolia Design Center System Designer you will:

  • Perform Audio/Video product consultations to evaluate needs, prepare proposals and present bids, including performance agreements and custom

  • Create working relationships with Designers, Builders, Architects and local Best Buy stores

  • Manage relationships through CRM documentation and complete post-sale customer follow-up

  • Generate personal book of business

  • Complete all aspects of merchandising oversight

  • General responsibility for store upkeep

If a candidate is selected for this role the employee will be hired into an Associate System Designer role for the first 4 weeks of training. Once the training period is completed the employee will be moved into the System Designer role.

What are the Professional Requirements of a Magnolia Design Center System Designer?

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of sales experience

  • Reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or above in Business, Marketing or related field

  • 1 year Consumer Electronic (CE) or Consumer Electronic Digital Imaging experience

  • Experience in selling premium brands

  • Previous outside sales or business to business (B2B) selling experience

As a member of this team, you will partner with team members to identify, propose, and develop performance improvement solutions, including training or other activities to ensure learning transfer occurs and performance gaps are addressed. Your primary goal is to ensure high quality curriculum is available to support business and technology users of UDW through the transfer of learning and successfully addressing any identified gaps. You will be responsible for staying connected to the latest in learning design strategies and thinking, with emphasis in Online Learning. You will create original synchronous and asynchronous learning solutions. You will apply innovative and creative strategies including but not limited to web-based tutorials, documented procedures, audio and video vignettes, and simulations using various technology tools. In this role, you may act as a project manager for some efforts. You'll enjoy working side by side with your peers in the Minnetonka, MN location as you tackle some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities * Applies a systems approach to curriculum design, re-design and development * Participates in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of learning programs supporting UDW's Certificate and Certification programs * Define training goals, learning objectives, audience, and timelines * Accept responsibilities as needed in defining process and standards * Builds collaborative partnerships with peers, others UDW BPMO and with business partners and users * Identify appropriate delivery approaches, media, and methodologies * Apply principles of adult learning and training best practices to create innovative and effective solutions * Creates, enhances or updates individual course curriculum and materials for varying audiences including beginner, advanced and expert levels to meet certification requirements and business needs * Stays current on various training delivery technique * Facilitates virtual training sessions * Effectively manage and support the learning environment by applying learner-centric approaches to promote engagement and active participation by all learners, maintaining a positive and professional learning environment, maintaining control of the training and appropriate responses to unforeseen circumstances during delivery * Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions to prepare candidates for Certification for delivery and conducting pilots to obtain stakeholder/SME approval * Facilitate end user forums including preparation of materials * Oversee critical communication delivery mechanisms for training materials (e.g., SharePoint sites, HubConnect Groups) * Support other UHC Controllership training development initiatives Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or high school diploma/GED with equivalent work experience * 2 years of experience in conducting learning analysis; including knowledge and demonstrated application of principles of adult learning and needs assessment techniques * 2 years of experience designing and developing engaging, effective online learning programs and tools, both synchronous and asynchronous, using current and successful strategies while applying a systematic approach to instructional design and development * 1 years of experience with Adobe Captivate, Articulate Suite, Storyline, Engage or equivalent online learning development tools * 3 years of experience managing projects * 1 years of experience with incorporating multiple media elements in to learning programs including audio, video, animation, simulation, and self-developed graphics * Intermediate or higher level of proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel Preferred Qualifications: * Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision making abilities * Strong time management, prioritization and planning skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Experience in project management and working on multiple projects at a time * Experience in leading design projects in which multiple SMEs contribute * Proven ability to produce quality results using rapid development models and tools * Group facilitation and presentation skills * Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed.
