JOB TITLE: Magnet School Enrollment Coordinator
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Enrolling K- 12 students which consist of:
Racially balancing school
Staying within class sizes mandated by the state
Assessing student needs by:
Working with McKinney Vento Coordinator to meet the needs of our homeless population
Working with EC on placements of students with IEP's
Working with Ms. Williams to serve our foster students
Working with ESOL department on non English speaking families
Working with transportation to ensure students have transportation if needed
Working with counselors at high school level to enroll students
Working with social workers to address incoming students nees
Conducting lotteries if necessary for Open Enrollment:
Process matriculating students:
Process and notify rising 4th, 6th, & 9th interest forms
Conduct lottery if necessary
Notify parents & school of decisions
Keeping the website up to date
Providing links to applications/discretionary admission forms and information
Renewing Discretionary Admission students (approximately 700 students)
Work with principals/data managers to ensure students are in good standing
Sending out information to all discretionary parents about renewal
Working with Buncombe County to ensure all releases are completed
Processing tuition payments
Send out correspondence to parents who have not paid
Send list of students who have not paid/been released to school to remove from class roster
Release from Asheville City Schools
Keep track of release forms from ACS to BCS
Provide list to the board
Revocation of Discretionary Admission
Send out correspondence to families not in good standing to return to their home school
Work with principals to provide transition dates with families
Change of residency status
Work with schools to provide information to families who move out of the district
Implement new system
Address parent concerns
Troubleshoot issues with system
Process transfer request in the district
Communicate with parents about the transfer request process
Look at numbers to determine approval/denial
Send decisions to parents
Send decision to schools and Student Information Coordinator
Conduct two Magnet School Information Nights
Present at multiple events about school district
Work with housing authority to ensure enrollment for students
Addressing parent request/concerns
Answer high volume of phone calls/email inquires about the school district
Address parent complaints
Provide documentation to Superintendent's office and assist with appeal process
Must be physically able to sit, stand, walk and drive a car. Must be able to lift boxes up to 10 pounds. Physical demand requirements are for Light Work.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and supply requisitions using prescribed format.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using a keyboard.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress.
Physical Communications: Requires the ability to see, talk, write and hear.
