Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • DRIVE sales by delivering exceptional customer service per the Operations P&P Manual.

  • Successfully complete the DMIT Training Program to enhance core skill set (ie: recruiting, developing, coaching, leading and training).

  • Train store personnel on standard operating procedures as well as State and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Communicate consistently with store personnel to insure understanding and compliance with standard operating procedures.

  • Act as the liaison between the District Sales Manager and the stores under the DMIT's direction.

  • Take appropriate actions to insure each store maximizes sales, minimizes asset loss, and conforms to budgetary requirements.

  • Extensive travel(up to 90%) from store-to-store, within a given geographic area

  • Perform work of subordinates as needed.

  • Support and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Communicate with employees at all levels of the company.

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight for training and/or business meetings.

  • Ability to work varying days and hours, based on business needs.

  • Ability to maintain an excellent attendance record.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with LIDS policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

  • Supervise Store Managers through planning, assigning, and directing their overall functions.

  • Appraise subordinates on positive performance and assist with formal performance evaluations.

  • Recruit, select, develop, and train store personnel on proper store operations and procedures.

  • Administer the progressive steps of discipline to include verbal and written warnings. In addition, the DMIT carries out employment terminations following approval from Human Resources and DSM.

  • Direct compliance of store personnel with established company policies, procedures and guidelines including, but not limited to, safekeeping of company inventory, funds and property.

  • Address complaints and problem solve when appropriate with the assistance of the DSM and or RD.



  • Four year degree in business or a related field and one year relevant experience or; two year degree in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience or; three years of relevant experience.

  • Proven supervisory skills

  • Proven ability to perform independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally in a clear, audible, and grammatically correct manner.

  • Ability to operate a computer, as well as maneuver relative software programs.

  • Posses a current valid driver's license, certificate of insurance coverage and the ability to drive an automobile.

  • Driving required for up to 100% of the daily work schedule.

  • Standing required for up to 90% of the daily work schedule.

  • Relative computer hardware and software experience.

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight for training and/or business meetings.

Our Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) administers the State of Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act, operating under agreement with Federal OSHA, and serves state citizens by protecting the safety and health of Washington's workforce. Within DOSH, our training program provides relevant, high-quality classroom training and educational materials to employers and our employees. As a Senior Training Development Specialist (SHS4), you will assist in developing and conducting internal training and materials for DOSH safety and health staff. This includes implementing training standards, evaluating outcomes and performance and making necessary improvements to ensure a quality program based on best practices and current industry standards. We need someone with experience in curriculum and program design, and the ability to market training opportunities and evaluate the effectiveness of our courses. Duties * Train and develop DOSH safety and health professionals on the most recent and advanced Occupational Safety and Health policy and procedures. * Teach advanced Safety and Health concepts, accident investigative and interviewing techniques to DOSH regulatory staff. * Designing a variety of exercises in the classroom for students to practice key skills, including computer-based, scenario-based, individual exercises, small group exercises and kinetic exercises, as well as role-playing. * Coordinate training in regional sites, including classroom space, computer labs, and break out rooms as needed for small group exercises. * Research and develop new topic materials for presentations, online modules, and other online training materials. * Assist with instructing "Train the Trainer" courses for internal DOSH staff, including presentation of material, critique and feedback of student presentations, and facilitating small groups practicing presentations. * Review training materials and presentations to ensure standards are met and providing feedback for improvements on programs and materials developed by DOSH and other units. Qualifications Required: * Four (4) years of experience as a Safety and Health Specialist 2 or above. OR * Bachelor's degree in engineering mechanics, industrial processes, industrial hygiene and fire protections, ergonomics, system and process safety, safety/health program management, accident investigation and analysis, construction safety, physics, chemistry, biology, physiology, statistics, mathematics, human anatomy or other environmental safety and health topic. OR * Four (4) years of experience (at journey level) in one or more of the following industries: logging, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, health/medical, service industry or related experience. AND * Four (4) years of experience as a safety and health manager, occupational safety consultant, occupational safety inspector or related experience such as safety enforcement and/or regulations. * Experience developing and delivering training. * Understanding of and experience with adult learning principles. Please Note: A Master's degree in management, business administration, engineering, education, physical and social sciences will substitute for up to two years of the required experience. Additional safety and health qualifying experience will also substitute year for year for the required education. The most successful candidate should have knowledge of the following: * Safety and Health Rules and Regulations such as WISHA (WA Industrial Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA (federal government's Occupational Safety and Health Administration). * Processes and techniques of designing classes and instructional materials to meet learning needs. * Program Design: assessing organizational training needs to plan and design training programs; develop training objectives; market training opportunities; evaluate effectiveness of courses and modifying courses based on evaluations.
